Waria's theory appeals to the conspiracy theorist in me. Actually makes sense. And did someone else also get taken in by the KTN's trailer leading to the first episode where it made it seem as if Track It was somehow involved with the carjackers?

Note: At this point I am assuming that the story of selective installation is true as it seems possible but as usual not swallowing it - what if those vehicles that did not have the device simply had them plucked out by the owners? Given the bribery angle however that theory would appear mute.

@ Njung'e,i know it sounds like i'm defending them but believe me i'm not. It's just interesting that so many people are swallowing the whole piece without asking questions. I think it's time the police intervened,did some proper investigating and collected tangible evidence in the interests of the mwananchi. Right now we're only getting one side of the story

All they have to do is go on the other TV shows and claim that KTN and Car Track have the same owners.

Next fire the MD and claim he was part of the plot to deprive Kenyans jobs by doing this. I mean that was too easy and for 20k dollars?

Offer all owners a free test to determine if their cars have been fitted. every one they find with the instrument should then be on TV showing it exists in their car. The others without it wouldn't have a clue anyway.

The problem I have with the story is making it too sensational so a good marketer can poke holes all around those claims of being rogue. All that the MD has to do is claim that Namu and Moha wanted the money to talk ill of someone else or even to talk well of their company or even to hire a prostitute from Mombasa,or get the left over drugs they had in Mombasa.

The idea that a former employee can be honest is something that is too open to interpretation.

this MD should go but at the same time,I don't trust the vitriol that KTN has been throwing and the high fives they are giving each other. I was looking at the workers in that company and couldn't help wondering what happened to responsible journalism. This is a case that should be in court and not making sensational claims that only makes the competitor benefit and benefit immensly.

The first episode sounded convincing....then last,KTN went back to its classic sensational fashion (with the reporters siting in their car,wearing dark shades acting like gangsters) and I started doubting the whole story.

And the news conference they aired was so heavily edited that it left me wondering what else the MD said.

Now,that envelope said to contain US$20,000......at least 200 notes.....was just too thin.

Let's wait and see what they say tonight.

But I must warn you...half of everything that you get in the press is an outright lie; of the remaining half,half is doubtful,of the remaining half (quarter),half is unverified.....eventually,only about 10 percent is factual truth!!!!

Where ZZE... and others have totally lost me is this part of proving that they can know they don't have the devices.

So far KTN has claimed that 'experts' looked for the device. Turns out expert is a former disgruntled employee. There was no independent verification of this story. Heck it could even have been Car Track.

One guy like ZZE..here was on TV claiming that he called them and lied to them that their car was stolen.....Only question is exactly who are these people? Are they also employees or associated with Car Track or Standard? Even Njunge is suspect at this rate with his claims of looking for the 'secret' device.

Basic journalism demands that you verify and prove your assertions. In cases where there are obvious crimes,the police should and must be involved. What would KTN have done if they had come accross 'real' carjackers in this 'mills and boons' story?

From what I have seen on KTN journalism,I have serious credibility issues with this company and can only read a business and political motive. Unless of course they take their case to the police and then we see where the cookie crumbles.

By the way,who offered to kill the story first,was it KTN or the guy? In the phone calls that we are not made aware of,exactly how far did KTN go towards making this guy offer $20,000 in an envelope? What was their complicity in getting the bribe? How did they manage to get documents from a company? Did they 'bribe' someone in house to send the owner's names?

Unlike KTN i don't believe that commiting a crime to prove a crime is crime busting.
