It is not a Safaricom subscription, it is an alert enabled , problem is , the alert is not enabled by the customer ,got mine disabled after my tenth followup call to customer care. Lots of people facing the same issue.

Is the deduction from your airtime or from your bank account balance? Ideally, the bank is only able to send you these messages by subscribing you to some service with your mobile phone provider. of course, if the deduction is on you bank account, then unsubscribing you won't stop them collecting the fee even if the messages don't reach you but would work if the deduction is from your airtime.

I think it's the other way round.. Once they unsubscribe you, they won't deduct the fees everyday..of course, plus you stop receiving the texts. It's really a Bank issue as I see it, and probably has nothing to do with Safaricom..

Of course its the bank which will have subscribed you. But, if the deduction is from your airtime, then the bank still has to subscribe you on a service with the mobile operator in order for the messages to be delivered and airtime to be deducted. To unsubscribe you simply use *100# or *200# and check under premium rate services. Trust me, you can stop the service yourself. I've done it for a different bank. @Speculz, try it and let us know.

A good example is the alert service by CDSC. They set it up on their side after I filled some forms. But I can see its listed under Premium Rate Services and Safcom advised that I can remove myself from the service any time I want using the above method.

it is a bank side issue not a telecom provider issue , lots of people are having the same issue and it all happened when they changed the mobile banking app , personally I never signed up for the alerts and customer care confirmed it was active ,only after numerous complaints did they deactivate and I no longer get the alerts .

I usually check my premium rate services for rogue subscriptions and I have none for the longest time .

CO-OP Bank's technology systems are/were created to fleece their depositors. Let me break it down. If you have subscribed for CO-OP Net, you will be required to pay some amount supposedly for courier services so that they can send you your pin information, that paper/envelop and a card, plastic engraved with some codes that are required for login. When you login, you should NOT forget the password that the computer generates for you(yes you dont get to choose your password so eventually yes it will get lost) and guess what...once you've lost it......no Lost Password button, you will have to write to "customer service" - Its run by fools - who will eventually ask you to fill in forms so that they can send the envelop with another pin again. Ps be informed they will charge you more than 2000/- to get this information to you.

So next time they announce those billions in profit....just know this is how they make money. How did that case eventually eventually end up, the woman suing banks - i think i need to be enjoined

Now again after intentionally (erroneously) subscribing all m-coop clients to daily alerts they raked in millions. I wonder if they refunded wanjiku....

... Mine was refunded. Kenyans are too lazy to scrutinise their bank statements
