Sorry for the long read but @famooz requested me to do a summary of the looong Awasi-women post in a new thread for clarity!


Brief History:
There a recent media report on women of Awasi township getting raped at 3am when they walk long distances in such for water. Those who are "lazy" to walk the distance are coerced to exchange sex for water with water vendors, hence increasing the spread of hiv and moral decay.
Awasi is found in Kisumu county, Nyando constituency where @Miguna Miguna, @Okuta Osiany (RIP), former police commissioner @Philemon Abongo, @late Dr Robert John Ouko,@Peter Otieno Raburu (former powerful Nyanza PC),@jane Adika (of serikali saidia mimi iko saidi mbaya fame) etal hails from.

Its right on the main road from Kisumu to Kericho, and sits 18 km from the mighty River Nyando which flows at full volume all year round,the town is a mere 22km from lake Victoria, the second largest fresh water lake on Earth by Surface Area!!!

Where we are:
So far Wazuans of good will wishes to fund-raise in order to sink a borehole within the Awasi township area.
My research shows that a modern borehole with a pump with a flowrate whuch can serve the situation better will cost an average of KES. 800,000...However one wazuan has hinted we sink the traditional open well/kisima, this will cost anything around KES. 250,000 to the best of my knowledge (I stand to be corrected though)

I have suggested @McReggae and @Angelica_ann to coordinate the funds drive since they hail from those sides or have relatives around the said area or have in laws from the same locality.
@Jus Blazin has been suggested to collect the funds due to trust from past relations/wazua mbusis.

So far we have the below pledges:

I'm so amazed such a noble cause hardly reached post #5!! Even the women in this forum never felt any pity for the fellow women

@mawinder, are you suggesting you can sink a borehole at 125K? Depth and terrain not withstanding?
