Roofing plan question

Architects and Engineers:

How important are roofing specifications for a small house?

I am building a small duplex in shags. Each unit will be self contained with a living room, kitchen bedroom and shower/toilet.

The architect tells me that I do not need roofing specifications, if I get a reasonably good roofer. should I believe him?

@dahatre, there are fundis who specialise only in roof works. If you get such, he will assist you well but to be 100% sure, a structural engineer can check and advice as the specialist fundi does his work.

I engaged a fundi last week and i am very happy with his work and he pays attention to details.I have a photo i can post for you review if you are interested.
Divers - can you laugh in scuba gear, or will you drown? I was wondering. - James May.

@dahatre, it depends on how complex your roof is. The best scenario is when a structural engineer designs and supervises, this way there is zero risk of failure. If its a simple roof , you can use a fundi roof specialist. if its a complex roof, engineering aspect comes to play.
