The Awori family is celebrating 50 years since the passing on of their mum, Mariam Odongo Awori, DN pg.61.

The family members read like who-is-who in Kenya. A former VP, former LEGCO member, an MP in Uganda, several board chairmen, and the only girl in the family started top private school-Makini.

The 2nd generation is doing even better. Two CEOs of leading banks, an ambassador, a cabinet secretary, several university professors and the list goes on and on.

Mama Marian Awori was a truly blessed woman, and her family is arguably Kenya's most successful family.

On a lighter note, who calls the shots during family events. You know in my clan, I was the first guy to go to college and buy a car. So you can imagine how much clout my word carries during family events.

Now if I were in the Awori family, I would be a KYM during family events. Lol ! Our God knows how to balance things out.

that's funny...

I believe Canon Awori had like 17 kids and all made it big.

I am also sure the daughters were more than mama Makini schools.

Who are the second generation kids? CEO ni Barclays na wapi kwengine? CS?

If you disregard 'heavy' political patronage, the Awori's should be the most successful family in Kenya

@mcreggae, I am not a religious fanatic but I think this is a classic example of God blessings. There has to be something about that family that pleased someone up there and a decision was made;

"Am going to bless this family upto the 4th generation, wherever they go, they will be the heads and not the tail".

Trust me that is in the Bible somewhere.

Most successfull Kenyan families have something in common which is a universal law. Accepting change!
and in this context, it was baptism and going to school.

the Awori patriarch took to the Mzungu's life (religion and education) back when the rest of our Babu's felt it was an interruption in their lives.
This was basically so especially for the have nots and the curious ones. The rich and the stupid(who included both rich and poor) stuck to their ways.
