I'm interested in purchasing and old clunker and restoring it to its full glory. Any wazuan who has had experience in this area? I'm referring to restoring body work and re-doing the interior upholstery.

The potential cars include an old-school golf, merc, or BMW. These can be gotten for sub-200K Might also consider repairing a salvage of some kind of new car.

Any reputable garages that engage in this kind of thing? I'm looking for personal experiences (or those of 'a friend of a friend had....').

there is a garage in ruiru that restores land rovers.I have been there and they do a good job. With one million you can have a 110 but since its customization you get what your budget allows. You can find them on Facebook they're called Overland 4x4

Across from the VP's official residence, along Karen Road. Don't have the number on me right now but will post it when I get home this evening.

Not very cheap but he makes the cars look new. Worth every penny.

EDIT: Also check out this FB group. Lots of tips and places to get old cars redone.

Yeah, they mainly deal with 4x4s. I would suggest that you go to concours d'elegance this weekend. I am sure you'll get enough contacts there.
