This is more of a rant after being frustrated by SBGsecurities Mombasa.

I went to them on 3rd of September with the hope of opening a CDS account with them and buy Centum Inv. shares. I was hoping to do both on the same day since I had the cash at hand.

After fulfilling the prerequisite requirements, they tell me we will send this to Nairobi for the account to be processed.

Being the hello that I am, I went home satisfied that it takes about seven days to open a CDS account. However, from further conversations with my buddies, I learned that opening a CDS account should be instant. So the following morning I decided to go to equity and for sure they got me an account and placed an order for me within the same hour.

One week later I go to SBGSecurities to inquire about my account. They tell me it's not opened yet. Kindly leave us with your telephone number we will call you ASAP

Three days later, Sad not even a phone call.
So I called their call centre hoping for further clarification all I got is that we have emailed the branch manager and he will give you a call shortly.

Went back to pay them a visit on Friday 19th lakini I was told the SBGSecurities reps had gone for training in Nairobi and won't be back till Monday. d'oh!

They never called me back.
How I had hoped to work with them d'oh!

WHY RANT?
1:) Lack of professionalism
2:) When i approached them on that day the share traded at 52 to 55bob. I bought them at 58.5 bob. I could have saved a huge chunk of money then.

Completed the registration process with SBG securities agents in Kisumu yesterday, was told it would take 7 days. Hope the same doesn't happen to me.

This beats me.
Why seven days?

Its just absurd that they have to physically take documents to Nairobi for the accounts opening/verification process. In this digital era.... Shame on you

Opening a CDS is a matter of seconds if not minutes. Since most SBG securities outlets are agents give an allowance of about an hour or so coz I think they don't have access to oracle (CDS system) but even then seven days is too long. This is purely inefficiency.

Maybe your CDS account did not go through since you registered with Equity, you can't have 2 CDS accounts with the same I.D no, about the Mombasa SBG I am their client and am all good with them they are quite busy and most calls go unanswered but if you show up in person you get the best service, I actually only go there to request payment or deposit cash into my CDS account otherwise everything else is online

Correction-You can have the same CDS account with different brokers what changes is the broker I.D.

If my CDS account with them did not go through coz I went ahead and opened another with another broker they would of course had told me so.

Besides, I am pretty sure you can have different CDS accounts with different brokers, correct me if otherwise.

Moreover,I went back for further inquiries but they did not have any info as two why my account hadn't been open. They promised to call me back twice, they haven't done that yet.

This is my experience with them and its not a good one. Lucky you who has a good connection but I would say they are under staffed here in Msa.

When you invest heavily thru a certain person, you wouldn't be looking forward to such a situation: "calls go unanswered but if you show up in person you get the best service".
