Believe you me,it is here with us.A US company known as WiTricity,has developed technology which powers light bulbs using wireless electricity that travels several feet from a power socket.
WiTricity's version of wireless electricity,converts power into a magnetic field and sends it sailing through the air at a particular frequency right into the bulb.Soon,we will see wireless charging of phones,laptops,electric cars and running of trains.......How about wireless grid lines in the future?

in physics class am sure you were taught about transformers .
From electrical energy - to magnetic energy - to back electrical energy. The only difference is the distance,the conductors must be very close although to touching each other for energy transfer to be most efficient. Which bring me to point number two,if the distance is that big ( so as to be comfortable),then it is a very inefficient one. Surely in this power rationing days.
