Love by its nature cannot exist without a giver. Neither can it exist without a receiver.

Love requires more than one.

To merely call upon others to love (while being unresponsive, nay, anti-lover) is selfish. Irresponsible.

Love exists without a giver and receiver. It doesn't need either of the two, yet it involves them. Such conditionalities that you're setting are about 'utilitarianism', selfishness.

What is love?

Quote:
Love, like energy can only be seen by the effect of the power involved, and the events involved in the perfect union, and relation of the 'I' and 'thou', and the seperation once again; and the union again, into an eternal dance of giving the self to the other and for the other. Mutually.

...........

love requires the availability of the 'I' and 'thou'.

Love requires more than one. Love cannot exist without a giver and a receiver.

To call upon love, like Nyang is doing while making no effort, even negating efforts, to love is the selfishness. Irresponsibility.

The 'definition' for love above doesn't negate the fact that love goes beyond the I and thou.

Yes. But it includes I and thou. It requires the I and thou.

So I still think I'm not wrong.

Including and requiring. The latter is a precondition for existence. Yet even before existence there's love flowing. Love is the requirement for I and thou. Before even 'creation'.

What is the definition of God? Is it the Christian God, Allah, the old Gods of our African traditions we knew for thousands of years who we promptly forsook after Islam and Christian invaders converted us, the scientific laws that govern the universe anbd nature, Buddha or the money that we're chasing around all the time.

Kenyans like to cram religious text whether bible or koran and then quote them as if they are scientific documents.

@mv, I like your thinking. You know, I don't blame many people who evaluate what they have been taught by their parents, what they have heard from preachers, and decide aha this thing does not fit God Almighty. So unfortunately, out of frustration and with narrow knowledge, they easily fall into atheism.

So we need a Touchstone of theology.

THEO = means GOD
LOGY = means STUDY

You know what is a touchstone?
If you want to sell or buy a jewelery, what do you do? You go to a goldsmith, and check how pure is the jewel. He takes the gold jewelry and rubs it against a touchstone. And depending upon the colour he says whether it is 24 carats or 18 carats or it is not gold at all.

Because all that glitters is not gold!
So we must have a touchstone of theology. Such that whichever god you worship, put him to the test.

If that god passes the test, then it is a true God Applause
Otherwise, it is not a true God Shame on you

Theology without love is a waste of time. The language of angels without love, noise. There can be no other touchstone but love.

Absolutely!

Love includes. The object of love must not shun the channel of love. Both make beautiful music. Theology without love is clanging debe.

Nyang must not shun love then protest unlove.

Nyang has his responsibility, he must not think it's easy to bear his burden by claiming atheism or even gayism.

And to the 'rest' being 'conventional' or even 'normal' is evil without love. Sinful.

Look at it this way, what's our reaction when we hear so and so is an atheist or is gay? Righteous indignation is a thousand miles from love. With love, even darkness, illusion, are material for consumption. For love is a fire. Light.

What's there to perplex the children of light? If Nyang has no light, then we surely have no light! And what a perfect illusion of love is there than that of theology! It's the anti-christ in the sense of Man going against the tide from flesh to the word, instead of word to flesh, and dwelling among us.

Let all you are heavily laden come to me, and find rest. For the only burden is burning. Transforming.

I like Rama Nyang's thinking. The reasoning I see in a lot of Kenyans about anything that they don't understand is similar to the thinking you see in Al Qaeda madrassas. Firstly on the subject of gay people - most Kenyans basically quote verbatim what they've heard in church or mosque - not much thought put into it. A measure of intelligence is the ability to not be too emotional about things but to be more logical.

There's too much unidimensional thinking in Kenya and that's one of the biggest causes of poverty and backwardness. Most people can't think outside the box or even contemplate that there could be another box apart from theirs. Some of the effects of this mindset - voting along tribal lines like sheep, burning people accused of being witches, waiting for outside innovations a lot of which such as computing came out of people who were gay such as Alan Turing. But this mindset will change within the next generation as information technology goes mainstream, I hope.

My response when I hear so and so is atheist or gay will be love. How is love expressed? - "I love you, coochie coo."?

What will be his response when he hears so and so is animist, monotheist, deist, polytheist? - "He causes poverty and backwardness!"

Being a stone to the current of love. Nyang.
