Few weeks ago, CIC Insurance Group contracted Deloitte Consulting to do recruitment for the next Deputy CEO.

The recruitment went well until when there were only three candidates remaining from the initial 43 of which only 9 were shortlisted for the interview. The names of the 9 were shortlisted, interviewed and 3 final names forwarded to the CEO of CIC Insurance Group Mr Nelson Kuria.

The three were;

1.Mr David Rono, MD CIC Life Division – Scored 96%
2.Mr Kitoto, MD Panafric Insurance – Scored 68%
3.Mr Patric Tumbo, MD Jubilee Insurance – Scored 61%
Funny enough, only Kitoto and Tumbo appeared on the list as they come from the Kikuyu community and not Mr Rono. Mr Rono was recommended by Deloitte Consulting.

This is the current CIC Board of Directors http://cic.co.ke/board-of-directors/

The team which conducted the interview are;

1.Japheth Magomere - Chairman of Board
2.Rev Peter Kagane – Vice Chairman
3.Nelson Kuria – CIC Insurance
4.Stella Kaimenyi
5.Grace Mabishi – Auditor
6.Stanley Muchiri – Chairman Coop Bank

Dr Martin Oduor Otieno formerly the CEO of KCB Group presented the Deloitte recommendations. Mrs Mabishi and Mr Magomere have been influenced by the CIC Group CEO to have Mr Kitoto who comes from the same village with Mr Kuria as the new Group Deputy CEO. So Ms Mabishi and Mr Magomere are running a parallel ad hoc committee to hand pick the Deputy CEO.

This is how negative ethnicity is being practised in Kenya’s corporate world. Extremely sad

These people? Highly doubt, never heard of Kitoto and Tumbo from that community. Very cheap propaganda!!!

Really?Does Patrick Tumbo Nyamemba sound like a Kiuk name to you?And for your info most companies don't have fair ethnic ratios.Please visit e.g Spectre Intl,Transnational Bank,Equity Bank,Credit Bank etc.You will notice that the ethnic balance is inclined towards the founders ethnicity.
The truth cuts both ways,lets not spread cheap propaganda against one tribe.Watu wafanye kazi!We are all children of God.

There is no law on equal representation in private corporations and senior corporate appointments rarely go to the most brilliant candidates so @Ericsson despite his eloquent expose has missed the boat by a river. smile

This post sounds like nonsense, there is no way a serious insurance company can pass the chance to employe Tom Gitogo or Patrick Tumbo, 2 seriously proven CEO's of large insurer's for some no name from within their ranks.

That Rono guy could not have outscored these 2 guy's in an interview. The matrices used in such an interview would be heavily skewed towards the 2 CEO's.

How did @Eriscson guy get this fake scores anyway. This post is maligning the reputations of CIC and even the recruiting agent Deloitte.

This thread is full of nonsense and stupid propaganda! I had avoided it all along. Why did I click on it today??? I expect facts and reasoned arguments in wazua!
Never count on making a good sale. Have the purchase price be so attractive that even a mediocre sale gives good returns.

The post is from KahawaTungu.com a.k.a. Walalahoi a.k.a. Robert Alai.

I dont think there is anything else that needs to be said.

Welcome to Board Room politics....., never are appointments made on pure merit. If you wish to be considered on pure merit...create your company and be the CEO.

Gitogo it is for the deputy MD position.
