I think something is a miss of those Range Rover. I have heard a similar incident. The only difference is that the guy was on an official assignment.

@Dr Dre pole. Care to tell us the whole story, like what happened after that?

I saw one too burning too near Sultan Hamud when coming from Mombasa from Easter holiday. However when your car gives you issues let it burn and let the insurance sort you out less the excess. The beauty with burning is that the evidence is burnt!!!!

And the x5. There is one close friend who has to jumpstart his every 2 days. New 20k battery, no detectable problem but the hitch persists. European cars iko kitu sisi bado jua, zasumbua kweli.

Seriously?
And the way it leaves me with my mouth.....every time it zooms past me?

not really. strange that simonkabz can use something happening to a friend of his (who for all we know used a clueless wire guy to screw up the electronics etc) to say that x5 has issues. this can not even pass as anecdotal evidence. or maybe we should read it in context of his disclaimer that he is clueless about european cars.

That's an overstatement, he is actually clueless about anything cars, may be mkokoteni!

Three friend's x5's in a span of like 4 months have conked. One of them shut down in the middle of Thika road just the other day, messing us big time. The cheapest repair cost 120k plus-for replacement of various sensors bla bla bla ........ .......These are not your ordinary 8 year old mark-x jalopies bought using a 72-month ka-loan.

I only know 3 x5 owners, so in my small world, the failure rate is 100%. I blame it on the excessive digitalization/computerization of the european cars.......too many expensive sensors that are not readily available........

The same debate extends to the venerated Landcruiser vs the (useless) Landrover Defender

Other than that, the x5 gives an awesome ride and an effective pant remover for your kind.
TULIA.........UFUNZWE!

Five people are fighting for their lives in various Nairobi hospitals after a vehicle veered off the road and hit them in Westlands on Saturday evening.

One of the victims, Ms Rosemary Wangui Maina, had her right leg amputated at the MP Shah Hospital where. She remains in a critical condition at the hospital's intensive care unit.

The vehicle’s driver, who is held in custody at Parklands police station, said that the vehicle developed mechanical problem shortly before the accident.

ā€œIt started moving very fast and the brakes failed. I lost control and hit the pedestrians and three other cars that were parked along the road,ā€ he said yesterday.
