Why do you need more than 1 CDSC account, other than small time Ukoras.

I'd like the option of an account for longterm investments that requires a reputable broker who doesn't give care about responding promptly but sends a monthly statement and an account for IPOs and short-term speculative investments

If you want all 2 accounts with the same broker, open one with ID and the other with Passport

Okay-I doubt if one broker will allow. There is also a conceptual/practical question. Why should I not be able to run with more than 1 CDSC account transparently? What is wrong with me putting through two orders with different brokers?

As you rightly point out, you can NOT run all three accounts at one time. The example relating to bank accounts is deliberate...Only one central bank and settlement system.

I can hold 43 bank accounts, umpteeth loans, but CDSC says I can only operate one CDSC account with one broker at a time?
What is this nonsense about? Why do I have sell my shares before I can open a CDSC account with another broker?

Mainat I expect better of you.. Why not have two IDs? Its painfully obvious one person only needs one CDS.. Unless there will be two or more central depositories. Plus the element of having to sell before openin a CDS with another broker is false.. Maybe u were conned so that they obtain commission. I hold three CDS accounts in different brokerage firms, though only one is active.. I also have a CDS in Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania, Ghana & Nigeria

@Mainat, all the three can be active at the same time, from experience.

I meant, I do not actively trade on the other two. But I could if I want

A while back my broker recommended i do that (ID/PP accounts). Yeah, a while back during Kengen IPO. Try out yours they may.

On the conceptual/practical question, hapo sasa, Think

On 3rd matter, you can put through two orders with different brokers. Others may give their experience

Unbelievable.. Hapa inaokena tuko na problematic student.. Now, if a packet of milk costs 45bob at both Nakumatt and Uchumi, why would a shopper want to enter Nakumatt and buy one packet, then enter Uchumi for the other packet??? There is simply no reason to have more than one CDS..

The logic does not apply.. Those are two different entities. Anyway, most individuals who have more than one bank account are confused! For a company, it makes sense since they may be suppliers to major clients who prefer to pay through their chosen bank

Obiero-a response from you is not a must...

Some of our failures as a nation is few question our many odd ways of doing things and a love of "shortcuts".
Had a similar response when I asked a bank why it requires me to go to a branch to open an account in 2014 when we have agents, email and the like
