Rude guard at corner house

Don’t know if anyone has experience this but I have just walked out of a meeting at highlands hotel, corner house- Kimanthi Street and on my way out the guard at the entrance facing international house wanted to inspect my laptop bag. This wasn’t a problem but I didn’t find the selective search normal search since he already searched me when I checked in and hence asked for his reasons. He said “kuna sababu” but still could not say what ‘sababu’. I opened my laptop bag again for him to see the contents –some reading materials, books and the laptop. The guy started leading me inside the building again insisting we have to go back, whereto? I have no idea…… To cut the long story short, the female guard who was following our argument intervened and reminding him that he already searched me on my way in …. It’s still not clear what the guard’s intentions were, I don’t think they have instructions to inspect people leaving the building. I have been there many times and have not encountered this before.

That fellow might as well have forgotten about you the moment you were out of sight. Here you are, carrying his frustrations around and God knows for how long.Learn to tolerate even the most stupid of actions and you will find life a little bit better. Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Nditto! No-Nditto. Guka's advice sounds sweet and helps one avoid drama but tell me,how have you helped in changing a bad system or help the guard to serve others with dignity. If you think about others, you will wish to change the way we do stuff. See, change starts with speaking up,pointing out a fault, questioning, not just walking away dissatisfied or grumbling. Some of these guards don't know their boundaries plus they look out for ignorant clients to harass. Eg. Strange hands inside my handbag is an intrusion to privacy.Infact in this era of communicable diseases...

Am not saying that @Thiongo was dressed like a conman, pickpocket or a thief. If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

I usually find there are two sides of the story,@Kysee that guard has the right to check your bag and deny you entry if you fail to abide by that...most people usually try to avoid this and that's when the altercation starts...I have never been in such a situation and doubt I will it all boils down to how you handle situations,we all have bad days maybe the guard had one... possunt quia posse videntur

In some buildings (eg anniversary towers)that is the norm. They search your bags as you enter and when you leave the building. If you got a laptop they write the serial number which they check as you exit. It so happens that you may be in a hurry and you jump onto a lift to do your business or completely ignorant of the protocol. On your way out ukileta ujuaji you will waste more than 2 hours there PROVING that it is your laptop which questions like where is the original receipt of the laptop. History will not remember you for your IQ. It will remember you for what you did. “Genius is 1 percent inspiration, 99 percent perspiration.” Thomas Edison
