However, literature shows a contrasting picture. For example in Britain and America, African immigrants happen to be more educated and have better jobs than both whites and African Americans/Britons. " African immigrants to the U.S. are among the most educated groups in the United States. Like their West African counterparts the Ghanaian Americans and Nigerian Americans. Kenyan Americans give a high value to education. " " Some 48.9 percent of all African immigrants hold a college diploma. This is more than double the rate of native-born white Americans, and nearly four times the rate of native-born African Americans " " Nigerians in the Diaspora, including in Britain and the United States, have become well known for their educational prowess, as exemplified by the academic accomplishments of those such as Paula and Petter Imafidon, nine-year-old twins who are the youngest students ever to be admitted to high school in England. The “Wonder Twins” and other members of their family have accomplished incredible rare feats, passing advanced examinations and being accepted into institutions with students twice their age " Wikipedia is the source plus this . I wonder what @Kiash does. In conclusion, our lower education and parental systems disciplines a child to a level s/he can excel in the developed world. I know the Asians are doing better, especially the Indians, Japanese, Chinese and Koreans. If only they could return home and develop Africa What stopping you from developing Africa.....assuming you are in Africa. You don't have to go to Majuu to develop Africa. We are 'developing' possibly faster than everyone else but IT TAKES TIME! I remember starting this thread sometime back. Keep on doing the right things and the big picture will take care of itself. Has anyone watched the movie 'The Monuments Men'? it will inform you just how critical culture is to people (We joined this race rather late... 50 years ago? people have been on this race for centuries! ) and we are building our culture now! a culture of seeking out knowledge and books and papers in a generation or two we will see it's benefits. Remember Kibaki's FPE children are in form 3 now... we will have an army of educated people around and that on it's own will bring change. Does it exist? Yeap.... just because there is no noise around it does not mean it died! We are building an army... the critical mass required to move us forward. did anyone ever read Charles Obbo's article on James Mwangi's Army? Obbo wrote: ..... The main event was held at the Amphitheatre at Kenyatta University. The theatre was full to the rafters and enveloped in that honest sweaty odour of the masses. It was intimidating. Fortunately, we were to speak separately to a smaller group of only the university scholars, some 400 of them.
Looking ahead, if these Equity Foundation programmes continue for just another 25 years and remain at the same level, they will have nearly 50,000 of what I would call “Equityzens”. Because the gender split is nearly 50-50, if by the time half of them are married to people who are not alumni of the programme and have families of three children each, you will have 12,500 Equity men having 37,500 children, and Equity women having 37,500 children too — 75,000 in all. In all, that would give you 125,000 Equityzens.
Implication What does this mean? If Mwangi were called by his maker to start a bank in the Hereafter in 25 years, and all Equityzens turned up for his burial, he would have the biggest funeral in East Africa. .....
