So what will be happening now ukishikwa na alcoblow? Will the cars be abandoned on the roadside at night since the police won't allow you to drive to the station while drunk. And they are not allowed to drive a "criminal's" car to the station. Then in the morning you will find all your wheels missing, plus stereo, battery, engine etc. Or the vehicle stolen by thugs.

Also not all police towing is bad. A few yrs ago my newly imported car was stolen and the police recovered it after it had been abandoned by the thugs and towed it to the station. It was missing for a week and you can imagine my joy when i saw it parked hapo police station. Just imagine if they had not towed it to their station and left it huko dandora with chokoras. I happily paid the towing charges .......and also bought the cops some chai in appreciation.

At the same time, Lady Justice Mumbai Ngugi, has stopped the Nairobi county govt from collecting rates from the residents of Karen. Case goes back to 1999 when the residents went to court and won against the city kanjo.

You can only charge residents if you meet your obligation of delivering services.

Now imagine if residents of Kitengela would do the same to the useless kajiado county.

someone should take Kanjo to court over security of our cars when we park them in town! Why should we pay for parking only to get our side mirrors and indicators missing?

That someone should be you.

kwani hukusoma my comment before?

I ain't gonna do it... i will lie low like an envelope until i get chutzpah to do it... someday in the future (feel free to relate this with the Blacks and Fear thread)

Then just insist they don't have it towed and have it lying there on the side of the road overnight. Then the next day after spending the night in the cells, and after the judge is through with your DUI case at 1pm, when they release you, you go back hapo national library to find your car "lying on it's stomach". Then you have to fork out 120k for new wheels, 7k for battery, 30k for your stereo, 40k for new headlamps, 70k for missing engine etc etc. Total bill >300k. The choice is yours.

Does this, by any chance include towing by Kidero's boys?

Ama after Alcoblow arrest!

The ruling was the outcome of a case in which Mr Robert Macharia, a lawyer, was taken to court on claims he was driving while under the influence of alcohol.

The magistrate directed the officer in charge of the AlcoBlow section in the Highway Traffic Patrol Unit in Nairobi, to unconditionally release the lawyer’s vehicle, which was in police custody.

Supposing he wasn't a lawyer, should we have gotten the same outcome?
I remember sometimes back when a magistrate was arrested for bhang smoking and was let free by another magistrate for very funny reasons

Your friends could be busy landing at that hour and thus can't appear at a moments notice (before you are bundled into the landrover), while your relatives back in shamakhokho may not be of much help at 3am.
