The Kenya Association of Retired Officers has negotiated a medical scheme with NHIF for its members. It's quite generous and is basically the current civil service scheme with higher
ANNUAL premiums. It also covers dependents. It's a game changer if you have elderly persons that qualify for membership and will blow these private insurance schemes with their preconditions, sub-limits, approved panels and such shenanigans out of the water.
Membership is open to former/retired:
(i) Civil servants.
(ii) Teachers.
(iii) Constitutional Commissions.
(iv) Independent office holders and staff.
(v) State corporations/ parastatals.
(vi) KDF/ discipline forces /NYS/ KWS etc.
(vii) Local authority employees.
(viii) County governments.
(ix) Public universities, CUE etc.
(x) Judiciary, National Assembly.
Registration requirements.
i)Letter of retirement/ proof of service.
ii) Dully filled membership application form.
iii) Ksh. 1000 registration fee.
You can check out the details from their quite basic
