It always amazes me how folks react to media reported tragic events.

100 plus people recently died right in this country from poisoned alcoholic beverage.

Another 100 plus from whatever form of sectarian violence going on at the coast

In the recent past people were dying from road accident after road accident.

Tragedy at our neighboring country south Sudan

Not to mention the daily silent genocide that is abortion.

I find our hearts and minds express far more compassion and horror at tragic events that involve people we have been trained to perceive as richer or better than ourselves.

Every life including that of a plant is as important as your own.

When tragedy happens here we react by pointing fingers and playing the blame game and getting angry ... not much horror or compassion.


It is a bad year for everything.

This may not be much of a consolation but, air travel is still the safest means of travel. You are more likely to die on the way to the airport than in an aircraft accident.
