The German defender told reporters that their was an agreement that they should not embarrass the hosts when they were leading 5-0 at half-time. That’s something of a moot point when you specifically tell the press about it but nonetheless, never let it be said that the Germans are not a compassionate people. Quote: We just made it clear that we had to stay focused and not try to humiliate them. We said we had to stay serious and concentrate at half-time. That’s something you don’t have to show on the pitch if you are playing.
