ARM Cement is set to build Kenya’s biggest plant in Kitui County, setting it up for a fight with Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote who plans to open a Sh34.8 billion ($400 million) plant in Kenya.

Dang! ARM is a powerhouse of sorts... It will become the biggest cement firm in East Africa if it builds the 8,000 ton plant!

Aliko Dangote has no plans in putting up a cement factory in Kenya.

If I recall, it was in TZ though TZ cement can be exported to Kenya without taxes/duties.

The Limestone deposits in Mutomo has always been attractive to Lafarge , ARM and if am not wrong the Limestone and coal deposits in Mui may have been presented to Dangote during His visit to Kenya to entice Him invest in the country. The cement Industry globally is a cartel, the industry players share information amongst themselves, discuss buyouts and acquisitions and sometimes fight amongst themselves whenever You intrude one's territory. I would not be surprised one day to hear Dangote acquiring stake in a local cement player one day.

Dangote is planning to set up a cement plant in KE not TZ.

Dangote's intentions are clear now, right?

On BD today, I see the Firm plans to increase the initial planned capacity across EA.
