I suspect that the crash was caused by either overloading or unbalanced cargo weight distribution. If it had flown without a problem at altitude for a distance, then went down, then the cause would have been something else, but because it went down shortly after takeoff...

?? Have you thought of EFATO?

EFATO could be a possibility, if maintenance was neglected, e.g. exceeding the engine's TBO hrs etc... New engines can fail too in rare occasions.

I was under the assumption that all necessary maintenance had been performed, since the need for maintenance is a no brainer.

EFATOs do occur regardless, and are usually catastrophic, since the ac is at the max-take-off-weight most of the time (full gas + payload). This is exacerbated by the fact that engines fail mostly at MAX power, which is the take-off configuration.

Not out-ruling, EFATO, but overloading or cargo shift can be a cause e.g.:

Overloading being the cause for plane crash that Aaliyah died in: http://edition.cnn.com/2...as/08/30/aaliyah.crash/

Cargo shift being the cause for this crash below.

Quoting a section of the video's description "According to a listener on frequency the crew reported the aircraft stalled due to a possible load shift. The aircraft was carrying 5 military vehicles."

upumbavu mingi. Even a whole captain who has undergone training allowed for overloading? I sincerely hope something else caused the crash.
