What was your first reaction when you learnt that your daughter, Chantal was pregnant at 21? And what dreams did you have for her?

My first reaction was shock. Then I started wondering whether I had raised her well to handle the challenges of motherhood and later marriage, both lifetime vocations. I could tell something had shifted due to the sudden mood swings and she had stopped clubbing, but I could not put a finger on it. Fortunately, we are close and she confided in me first before her mother. We decided to support her to still pursue her dreams. After all, my wife also got her at 21 and she is a big-time achiever. Chantal is back to college already and is keen to pursue her masters degree once she is through with her under-grad.

And the reason could be....

Kenya knows you for the Mpango wa Kando campaign. Do men agree with you?

Oh no! A man once accosted me at JKIA and roughed me up. The airport security had to come to my rescue. Also, in traffic, a man in- sulted me demanding to know why I was betraying men. I laughed and he angrily and shouted, “You think it’s funny?”

And maybe she was someone's mpango wa kando...If what he says about that man who asked him "Do you think its funny?" is anything to go by, maybe a certain kimzee decided to cheat the girl to 'punish' the dad or rather proof him wrong.

I remember many yrs ago Jimmy Gathu being interviewed and saying that he was happy to marry a single mom. Might this be the step daughter who is now causing the ndrama?

History repeating itself like mother like daughter.

Not sure who to blame..............the parenting or the girl.Though at 21 she is old enough but that she is in college is not good and this days motherhood starts abit later.

However I salute Gathu for how he has handled the issue.

And who are planning to pay for her Masters! And who most probably finance her constant 'partying' which they acknowledge and seem to agree with!
