hi wazuans, could you please let me know if it is possible to start up a hardware business of selling cement (either nyumba or simba-the prices are relatively cheaper unlike bamburi or athi-river) with a start up capital of ksh.150,000.
If i buy at factory price of ksh.680 (i dont know the actual price) i will start with about 200 bags of 50kgs.
Is it possible to start with cement only, can it prosper?
Am planning to set up the biz in a place like kenol, muranga, or nanyuki.
Also consider that the above capital does not include rent, licences etc which i believe will be less than 20k.
I may in future expand to include paints, mabati, etc
thank you

me thinks you need to include other materials to make a profit. Cement is not the main source of profit for hardware owners. Other small small items are where the owner can make a kill.

Insiders, how does one become a Bamburi cement distributor ie get the cement directly fro the factory and not from the other distributors.

@ Kihara the margins from cement are like those for beer..ie 20 -100 bob depending on target client..so volumes are paramount.u cannot think of distributorship if u dont ave liquid cash..check the major distributors of cement from bamburi, savnnah etc websites and make a visit to their stores n u'll see they other stuffs they sell....do ur research well and understand that cement business has ukora mwingi sana..( cases of trucks being offloaded at nightfall etc Shame on you )...on good trail though...
I found meaningful work🤓
