Yesterday was the deadline for filing our annual tax returns.I dont know how many of you did but as a law abiding citizen,I carried out my civic dutysmile .
I looked at my form P9 and the amount of Tax that I have paid to the garment and It was shocking.Hiyo ni plot muzima bila kuchukua loan za sacco.
I remembered what Robert Kyosaki wrote in Rich Dad Poor Dad.No wonder most of us will die poor.We work for the garment and we have nothing to show out of the huge taxes we are paying.
The garment needs to reduce taxes to inspire economic growth.I have therefore decided to retire build a corporation rather than working for the garment even though am in the private sector.Maybe only then can I be a free man like impunitysmile

There are only two emotions in the stock market, fear and hope. The problem is, you hope when you should fear and fear when you should hope

For those of us who were given those PIN Certs some time back, the system was picking your date of birth as 1st July as default eg if you were born in 1982, your DOB in the system was 1 JUL 1982. I realized this when I was filing though I eventually succeeded in filing on line. But I wonder why we have to do that filing and if so why it should be such a "complex" or "cumbersome" affair. My reasoning is, the P9 comes from them, so if your income is nothing else but salo, filing it is a waste of good time. If we have to file, then the system should be simplified such that I can just dial a USSD code and they collect all the info they want from me or I log in to an App and do a simple entry of the date they want. I am told the forms that guys have sent to KRA are in a hall...I wonder how long it will take to scrutinize that info.

I think this whole itax thing is a major flop. They should have acquired a better application and database. The systems are easily overwhelmed and knowing the peculiar nature of kenyans the system should be powerful enough to accommodate huge transactions. They should learn from Equity invest in better hardware and software.
