I see that some of us think that @impunity's idea can be helpful; but it's easy to show that digging the proposed wells will do nothing but create more trouble for the people of Awasi.

For example, will @impunity expect positive cash/economic returns from digging the wells?

the women organised themselves and dug well.
After seeing the demand for the precious commodity rise, they decided to sell the water as an income generating activity before the hyenas stepped in.

What I don'y understand is 'whose women are these and aren't these men their relas? it's a village rem.

And if @impunity digs wells, how will he keep the 'hyenas' off?

He is digging no well, just yapping and shedding crocodile tears.

Well. the men who dug the first well ended up becoming the hyenas.
The sober men can form vigilantes to escort the women, but where are they? the brothers, uncles, hubby's.
Why are we even bothered when their MCA's are burning cash!

Thoughts are real @ kysse.

What if the sober men escort the ladies to the well and find the hyenas on guard? If the sober can solve this, why couldn't they dig and protect the well(s) before?

Why do you think the MCAs 'burn cash'?

I support the women of Awasi and those who advocate for them and will contribute to a well if an accountable system to get water to them is set up.

That said, I think Society has given up on figuring out how to stop a few men from raping. Instead we would rather create elaborate systems to support, blame or otherwise put the burden of rape on women…#rapeculture

To be rid of this rape culture, we may need precision in our language.

For example, in this case, what's an accountable system? How does it work? To whom is it accountable? Why?

Otherwise we may speak pleasantly and work ineffectually.

Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.
