Published today. The world has become much more peaceful since the end of World War II. What has increased is the high visibilty and impact of certain events. Hence per country or perception, things are worse.

It cost Kenya $5.2bn in 2013 to contain violence (6.5% of GDP or X 2.5 the Eurobond) - it is cheaper to love one another.

• The least peaceful countries are Syria, Afghanistan, South Sudan, Iraq, Somalia. Who is to blame, the US, the people or their beliefs?

• Kenya at position 132 just about to drop into the Low peace group. Trailing Tanzania (59) Uganda (110) but above Rwanda (137). Who is to blame, AMISOM?

• USA is at position 101. UK (47) France (48) Germany (17)

• Internal conflict has been the greatest driver of falling peace.

It needs saying, that it is a myth dictatorships are more peaceful than democracies. However the risk for violence is less in a dictatorship as compared to a flawed democracy or a hybrid regime.
