Now ive remembered another unit goog for you. Try Toyota Ipsum 4wd chassis type ACM26W. Price about 1.1m. Also Honda CRV Rd5 but will cost you about 1.6m

Did someone mention the cami? Keep off that lil' piece of shiet,has very very poor stability,and the auto one,though a 1300cc,aint so economical. Suzukis avoid,ziko na issues. CRV....gud wen new,bt after a few years....My several peanuts. Can silence be misquoted? TULIA.........UFUNZWE!

does an Ipsum fall in this category? Anybody with details about its performance compared to the Xtrail? 'It requires a lot of carefulness to kill the fly that perches on the scrotum' If you are an eagle don't hang around with chickens; chickens don't fly....

@Dexco I am also looking at the Forester SG5 XT,year 2002,non-turbo,you reckon that the turbo does better long distance on fuel,please give details. e.g average spend from Mombasa to Nairobi in Kshs. Also what is the average fuel consumption of the non-turbo,taking that 80% of the time i will be within Nairobi. Calamities are of two kinds: misfortunes to ourselves,and good fortune to others

it measures among other things reliability,performance and running costs. age of cars in the review are within the range that most kenyans are interested in. from your list the forrester comes tops. the first 4wd is the lexus rx300 although this may be on the pricier side. *

I have heard not so nice things about the rear leg room in a Forester @Sasha - trust you to throw yourself into this foray on cars - good to see you dishing out some really good advice! ;-)

@clems, I have seen that top gear review,it puts the forester up there. 10 Subaru Forester (UP) Engine/Gearbox Reliability Electrical Reliability Brakes/Suspension/Steering Fit/Finish Squeaks/Rattles Performance Handling Comfort/Practicality Customer Care Ownership Costs But still i don't get how the turbo consumes better than the non-turbo on long distance am also wondering which one is better in cases of town running. turbo or non turbo. Ok,the good side of SK Sorry,Wazua. Had wanted to get an IO but seems opinions are low on it (what is wrong about it no one says). Back to drawing board. Also need a 4x4 but a mwananchi one not the guzzlers.Guess we all learn something everyday. @popi, I wonder why you left out CRV?
Anyway among what you have listed:
1. Forester - for power, do yo need this power? Also you can only sell to specific group of people.
2. X-rail - only class, but worst in everything else including durability and resale value. You can sell this thing for a whole year!
3. IO - moderate performance, family car, cool car, moderate re-sale value. For people who want to mind their own business.
I advice you to go for Forester if you are aggressive person, or IO if you're cool person.

Extra weight contributes to stability.

@Alph, its in the CRV, Xtrail, Rav4, Forester category, but I must say its so delightful and well engineered. Rugged yet smooth, powerful and fast. IMO, it beats the rivals in more ways than one, comfort, economy and design.

Can also consider a Kluger have had it for 3 years and can’t complain; stable, good fuel economy, power, space, with only normal servicing for that period.. Cool ride so far
