...yesterday I was in church to give thanks and praises to the most high because his faithfulness endures forever. Now, there is this loong prayer session where people are supposed to be filled with the holy spirit. I am standing there praying quietly when a lady next to me starts speaking in what is supposed to tongues.. and this is what is coming out of her mouth...

....bolingo ya telefoni mokili mobimba kupe kupe bimbamba nabimi na malembe tokusepele. Tula tula aaaaaaa sasemosa... and she went on and on... I looked around to see if kofi olomide, defao, or wera son were around to translate for me ...but could not see any of them. As best as I know this is what the Bible says...

◄ 1 Corinthians 14:27 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret.

Have a blessed week and stick to the scriptures...

Magigi,

You were not praise and worshipping the recommended way. Hence I believe you are on the right track.

That is it, mass hysteria and mostly attacks the weaker sex...when the praise leader stops speaking in ]her tongue then all of a sudden everybody stops as if the they shared the malaikas!

Why do you think it is not really speaking in 'tounges'?

Because most "tongues" sound exactly like the lingala in post #1 Sad

And Impunity also added something on the mass hysteria bit!

@muriel let me tell you my little unimaginable story. Another time I was meeting another friend from foreign European country. I was with my "saved" friend. And we had a bit difficulty conversing with the foreigner, and I ask my friend since he is saved, I have an idea, in Jesus's name, he can speak in tongues, can't you? He said not like that, he cannot speak the language of the foreigner!!!

It was so funny, how could he not speak in new tongue? I told him he can't say that as a Christian. You know as a Christian, a "born again" for that matter, and as one who reads Mark 16:17, you can't say that you don't have a iota of faith!

Mark 16:17 quotes Jesus Christ (peace be upon him), telling Christians of all dinominations and Churches:
"And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

This is for those who believe.

So when we see people enrolling for foreign language classes, all these bishops and priests and pastors and monks and nuns! All these Christian believers, don't they just need a hand placed on their heads and pap new language?

Because this is one of the signs that follow those who truly believe according to Jesus Christ.

So if this guy is speaking lingala, (I'm not talking about just ordinary person here), then even the great Bishops know all the 42 languages in Kenya.

Otherwise, little wonder now you read about Christians telling the world that they have lost faith.

Yesterday during mass, our priest told us we all speak in tongues; Tthat is because, all of us have a motherTONGUE, right? all other languages( e.g. kiswahili, english( in kenya), blah blah blah ) are other TONGUES.
we therefore do speak in tongues!

do we require those miteremko ya subukia bila carrier?
We dont!
