When Kenya was being formed, 'Civilization' was a pretext for 'plunder', and a goal that would keep the native in perpetual slavery.
The quest for civilization is doomed.

yes murchr, that's what even the second video is telling you. Kenya is uncivilised. Uncivilised doesn't have to go through Tycho's meanings. Neither does it mean a country. It's simply following what the good book said. Love thy neighbor. I guess that's a concept lost on most Kenyans. Jose: If I make it through this thug life, I'll see you one day. I guess that's a concept lost on most Kenyans. Alma, the book you're saying is deplorably vague on the issue of 'love', and 'neighbors'. And so have its adherents! As for you talking about 'Kenyans'; you add the vagueness tenfold. These terms do not have a priori meanings like you wish to have them.

One day I'll understand what you are saying Tycho. I think I'll stick to being clear about what I'm saying. Just speak up when this nonsense of this tribe that tribe comes up. I guess that's a concept lost on most Kenyans. So how does Kenyans become uncivilized? If civilization = a society without prejudices then my friend there exists none in this world. We just learn to tolerate each other, embrace those we must/want and love the rest from a far. The first video just shows point of reason, the 2nd shows an angle of reality. murchr its not an issue of stopping someone from FEELING. That's the work of God. It's about you standing up for what you know is right and stopping what you know is wrong. please list more excuses that you may have for hating on someone simply because he's from another tribe or hiding behind another excuse to stop what you know is evil. The moment we overlook the tribal factor in our politics, is the moment we perish. Why? Because our identity will be abstract, and our thinking false. Why is it that immigration is such a hot issue? We live in a world whose system is designed to affirm the tribe. Civilization has always been about affirming a tribe, a race. In a multi-cultural state like ours we will always have a jostling of tribes because the political and economic system in place is indifferent to this variety, yet exerts demands on an international scale. The situation becomes highly tribalized by 'nature'. So speaking against the tribe becomes not only futile but wasteful. This civilization you're implying ends up being no civilization.

So now you want to judge All Kenyans that they dont stand up for what is right and stopping what is wrong? How many inter tribal marriages have you come across in your short life? When disaster occur how many stop to count the number of white/black/luo/kikuyu/luhya in the buses if its an accident? At westgate, if its an act of terror? I am yet to come across a doctor who will not treat people because they are GEMA or Lakesiders. Do the countless Kenyans who go out to donate blood ever wonder if that blood will save a GEMA of lakesider? Who gets into a mat and then gets out because he has discovered that the man driving is a Luhya or the conductor is a Kyuk? Our tribal inclinations are mostly manifested when we go out to vote. And honestly i dont see anything wrong with that. The US political parties are now scrambling for the Latino vote. Its well known that the African American vote is 90% democratic and the Asian vote goes for those who favor policies that touch on their lives. Now if what makes Kenyans is tribe, then there's absolutely nothing wrong or absurd about tribal voting, what is needed is empowerment so that the tribe is not manipulated. Every society stereotypes. I knew the "Chinese" comment would bring an issue but i'll explain. Look at China's ethnic composition and the way they live with each other, apart from Tibetans (Tsang) and the Muslim (Hui) the rest fully appreciate and proudly proclaim that they are Chinese. Efforts (esp by the western media) to define their differences have failed flat. When Britain gave back HongKong to the Chinese in 97, many expected HongKong to kinda revolt and declare independence...wapi 17 years down the line and nothing. Africans are civilized Tycho but not the most civilized Where the Chinese have failed, like in the instances you've mentioned and others like 'Tiananmen', their foreign policy in terms of Syria, North Korea, a non committal ideology that can't support multiculturalism across the globe, the African has excelled. In terms of structural capacity in all cultural aspects, the African still shines. The only question is, 'where is this African that am talking about?'
