Chimamanda accomplished, her hair, and her penchant for
NO I thought Stephen Sackur is well prepared.
1. She says you
can't compare Biafra civil war and Boko Haram violence then says nothing else has shaken their sense of security as the two events.
2. She says you
can't raise questions on whether she did not feel Igbo first before Nigerian. Yet in Biafra war most Igbo supported secession and did not want a part of Nigeria.
3. She
disagrees that sensitivity is the reason Nigeria refuses to certify 'Half of a Yellow Sun' for showing. But then goes on to say, they're all on edge and are frightened of the turbulent part of Nigeria history.
4. She says Boko Haram
does not reflect socio-economic problems in Nigeria. But then goes on to say it's part of the problem. The statistics of poverty in North East does not support her here.
She says Boko Haram is
not a Gender but more a Western issue, though it is quickly evolving to be their pet terror.
She says she is
not a member of the West but spends more of her time and renowned in the West.
She did agree that tradition should change to do away with FGM, which is prevalent in Nigeria with the highest number of incidences worldwide.
