I loved that book, it would be great to see an indigenous African, more so a Kenyan, play the main role.

Me too...

Would be nice if Lupita acted, but I really want her to direct...that's where the creativity is...

I really hope indigenous Africans specifically Nigerians from Lagos are cast in that movie otherwise it will be my last African movie to watch. The book was great and I just hope Thandie Newton doesn't play Ifemelu, no offense to her but I'm sick of the fake African accent that westerners try to pull, the movie just needs to be as authentic as the book.

Unfortunately, it doesnt work like that. The financiers of the movie will insist on a 'bankable' star and even a talented Nigerian actor will not cut it cause of not being known globally. At this stage as a producer, she needs to make films that pull in worldwide audiences and make profits, then when she is stinking rich down the line she can show the Hollywood moneymen the middle finger and go arthouse and make movies any way she likes.

Looks like Lupita will team up with Brad Pitt again to make Americanah happen. She produces/directs and acts in the film.

May the force continue to be with her..
