Advise? Cant remember being advised. There was never an advise session. It was either a warning Eg..."Nimeenda kazini. Nipate hakuna kitu mmefanya..." (Yes, that was a warning) Or an actual fight Eg "So muliona chakula ya kwenu haina taste mukaona ya akina Mama Wachira ndio ina asali eeh?" followed with a nice beating. So, each of those could instill the desired end result, and we turned out very well. So this issue of "Let us have a conversation" I came to hear of it much later through the post-Moi error parents.

I remember back in primary when we still had Homescience lesson, and we had to make a Lapbag and booties and I could not get either right. My mother made all of them for me and when I handed them in school, they were the best in the class! Ironically, her best advice to me was to be independent. I think buying your mother a new outfit would be great.. If only to reciprocate all those times she bought us new clothes on our birthdays and special occasions
