Its with alarm that I read that Guka wants opt out. Lets not stand by sitting on our palms. With all due respect to SK members, and taking cognizance of the efforts by Wazua, I'd like to HUMBLY propose the following approach to allow us to arrive at a consensus
1 - Transition - allow at least 90 days for anyone who wishes to post/review/lurk on the old site - have both sites with the same content
2 - That sixth main link up there - the one labelled "Club SK" - rename that "StocksKenya" and let it take people to the native SK site.
3 - On the original SK site, logically, gradually and methodically insert links to NEW content that we see on Wazua - with time, those conservatives in our midst can gradually acclimatise to the new site and make intermitten forays to Wazua and eventually become comfortable with it. Yahoo did it with their email...Gmail too...
4 - Let anyone who follows the link Stockskenya.com - be taken there.....just as much as you would want a 58 to take you to Buru Buru and not to Jericho via City Cabanas.
I request this, both to give due recognition to the those behind Wazua, and also to try and maintain some cohesion/harmony.
Lets call a spade a spade - Wazua has some salient features that SK did not have - on the other hand, as Marie Antionette said "the people want bread, not cake". Lets get used to the new look (and name) first.
So, despite the teething pains and the "culture shock", there ARE better things here like the stats, profile info, currently viewing, etc. In the same breath, old school SK members want their old furniture back or at least some time to bid farewell to it.
Can we accomplish what Annan though he accomplished? Do we have the will to listen and make concessions?
And finally, the only thing that is constant is change. It behooves us as members and contributors to keep the ship on an even keel...
