During volatility periods both bulls and bears are undecided who is in control. So both camps take hits until the a clear trend emerges. I'm bearish banks, but the market is now pushing simba and member upwards as well as coop. For banks I still have that NPL issue nagging my conviction as well as the market is pricey on most counters.
Laggards remain my main focus though KQ and KK are struggling longer than I expected. Forced to decamp from KQ recently and build up on KPLC. Looking for another energy play while I wait for KK to finish its vol churn. $15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

Mpesa bank finishes april with vol spikes with a few weeks to FY results as well as simba, member and EABL churning huge share vols. FTSE KE NSE15 has broken out of the ascending triangle and dismissed solid resistance @180 on sizable vol on the above top 4 counters. Q2 should continue to be interesting as bulls reaffirm their strength... $15/barrel oil... The commodities lehman moment arrives as well as Sovereign debt volcano!

NSE20 cartoon just got interesting. When BB constrict it only means one thing. Looming breakout - up (rally) or down (selloff). Whoever wins the fight it will be spectacular to watch. Get ready... Another cartoon view for the 1yr chart - symmetrical triangle. Symmetrical triangle cartoon explained - http://www.chartpattern.com/symmetrical.html

Signs of a bull run in the banking sector Total industry lending increased to Sh1.69 trillion in the first three months of the year from Sh1.6 trillion last December, a 5.6 per cent growth. That enabled the banks to make a massive Sh33.4 billion in pre-tax profits compared to the Sh28.2 billion they made last year, an 18.4 per cent increase. The performance has been behind the recent rallying of bank stocks at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), which analysts expect to continue attracting investor attention in the coming months. http://www.businessdaily...6/-/49wqf5z/-/index.htmlNo diagnosis,no pragnosis,no pragnosis no profit......Jesse livermore

@aguy - we are getting close to the TA resolutions (triangle and compressed BB) on the NSE20. And it looks bearish... The return of bargains perhaps and a very queit wazua period The index has been above 4900 since the April low. Today it closed @4,899.92. We are in a series of lower highs since Nov 2013. Once the index prints a lower low from the triangle break downwards (sub 4800), things will move very quicky... I repeat, I'm bearish banks... $15/barrel oil...
