What should interest guys is the fact that the precedent set by the World Duty Free case was actually done by Kenyan lawyers.

So this AG and the previous one want to claim that they were so whitewashed by the mzungu lawyers that they forgot to talk to the Kenyan lawyer.

How can you lose a case where there is no legal entity to perform a contract, there are no services provided and you still don't know who the complainant is?

How does that happen unless it is corruption?

And how does this gov't pretend it is different from the other one when it has every intention of paying then blaming everyone but themselves.

Thank God Raira is not around. Even this one would have been on him.

And I hear crickets from the usual suspects.....creee, creee, creee

Read through all the posts but i have not seen a link to the genesis of this Anglo-leasing manenos

what is Gaarment saying here? and what are the allegations?

Does somebody have a chronology of what exactly happened here?

On thing is clear though==> contracts were signed.
Some QS friend of mine says some Angloleasing contracts and works were actually done

If the promisory notes were traded and the party that bought(@Accel says Vulture) now claiming payment was not party to the initial contract is that relevant wapi mawakili?

If those Promisory notes were fictitious then, what makes them right now?

Our Journos are not being incisive in researching analysing and documenting this Angloleasing biashara...

Rink : This is better Anglo-Leasing-payouts-get-House-teams-nod = Sh1.4 birrion

The Budget and Appropriations Committee (who sits here) ?

and its counterpart on Finance and Trade....

appeared to agree with Attorney-General Githu Muigai on the payments in the face of accrued interest in their report tabled in the National Assembly on Tuesday.

The proposed payments are of two debts amounting to Sh1.4 billion awarded to First Mercantile Securities Corporation and Universal Satspace LLC.

Yesterday, National Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and Solicitor-General Njee Muturi attended a joint committee sitting where he explained why the government must pay the money.

Mr Rotich clarified that the amount in question is Sh1.4 billion and not Sh125 billion as has been reported.

Seme MP James Nyikal said those responsible for the mess must be exposed even if Kenya pays.

Dagoretti South MP Dennis Kariuki said Kenya risks being downgraded on credit rating internationally if it fails to honour the payments.

THE NUMBERS

Kenya signed Sh56bn deals

All 18 Anglo-Leasing contracts signed between 1997 and 2004 amounted to Sh56.2 billion

Of the 18, four were cancelled (Sh18.9 billion), three were delivered (Sh6.795 billion) and 11 partially finished (Sh30.56 bn)

β€’ Kenya is trying to recover money from six of the 11 (Sh16.6 billion). Five others are still active; two of these were paid by 2012, one is still disputed and two were subject of court cases in London (2013) and Geneva (2012).

1. Who owns those companies?

2. "Seme MP James Nyikal said those responsible for the mess must be exposed even if Kenya pays." WHY NOT EXPOSE THEM NOW?

It really is the work of the executive to decide whether to pay or not. Using Parliament as a rubber stamp is a poor attempt to hoodwink Kenyans.

I can already hear the MPigs oinking all the way to the bank from their cut of the blood money.

Boniface Mwangi ako wapi?

Let those we owe do whatever they want. They can also take us to Hague. Huko pia tutajitetea. In fact it will be better there, Amina already has experience in that league. Surely that money could be used to give medical cover for our police, not to pay people "who are not even known". Not.

Very happy that Parliament seems determined not to be part of this mess. Motion also withdrawn.

Don't be very happy. I suspect the only reason they are against the payments is because they are not beneficiaries. Wait and see what happens when the faceless Anglo-fleecing schemers "see" the MPigs in private.
