The house is ugly - poor design, poor location. The only thing about it is that its very big and occupies a large piece of land in Karen. 200M for such an ugly place is a waste of money. There's no real creativity and design that went into making it. A mkokoteni made of gold.

Agreed. The architect should be fired/deregistered.

The owner has the last laugh. With 150m in his bank account he may be planning the next grandiose one for which GOK will pay the bill!

Aesthetics is mainly a personal issue. One mans meat is another mans poison. From my point of view, i also find the design un creative, un balanced with one side with curved wall and the opposite side with rectangular walls.Use of cream/pink does not combine well with the red brick colour. This design might look very interesting to another person though.

2000m2 x kes 40k per m2 =kes 80m.
3 acres in karen @40m per acre =kes 120m.
Total =200m

Aiish. @A4, where are you driving at. Ati Bwana Ali Kwisha enda hasara?

It's either he got the land free of charge or he owns tile and carpet Center/Saj Ceramics meaning he supplied materials at Cost.

@am, this article says its a 2000m2 home. The building looks smaller than 2000m2, . If the area is correct, then Ali sold at a slight loss .

I do not think it is fair to criticise the building wholesome based on external appearance only. Personally I have seen houses which look magnificent on the outside but you wouldn’t want to spend a minute inside. For a house, I would rather have average exterior BUT great interior. That’s if I cannot have both for whatever reason.

No chance a woria can sell at a loss. Never. Could be the house IS 1000M2, or has Kayole Finishing which is attainable for 15,000 pa SM

in this article, they say the land is 2 acres

in this article, they say the land is 3 acres

The best way to measure the land and the plinth area of the house is to use google earth once we locate the house on google maps.

i think there is a serious problem of valuation in Kenya. This house looks big but not magnanimous enough to warrant 310m. Is the interior made of ivory?

Have noticed in kenya especially nairobi, the value is not in the house itself but the location

Also the value depends on who's selling(PORKS) and who's buying (Their companies registered in diff names)
