Indeed there is 'division' - they play different roles, have different names and as you point out, sometimes seem to have a mind of their own.

But the point is you would never think of them as separate entities from the whole 'you.'

The same analogy applies to the 'greater you.' The reality that surrounds you is an integral part of you, even though you have assigned different roles and names and qualities to different elements of it.

We get so deeply immersed in the game of 'human - being' that we tend to confuse an assumed illusion of separation for the ultimate real.

Muriel, your labor can truly not be idleness if there's co-determination, and self determination running at the same 'time'.

That's how if the toe is sick then the whole body is sick.

Whoa! Hold up there, brothers!

There is a disconnect. The 'body' has all sorts of physical 'linkages' and pathways within it and can be physically traced. Now the 'linkage' between one body e.g. mine and another body e.g. yours is, well, amorphous, vague and can only be talked of as such.

I am baffled by logic and to me it is a tremendous leap. A very important leap.

Furthermore, 'co-determination' implies an external supplement to my determination. It may not necessarily be a visible supplement nor even a human supplement. Is this then the bridge that enables the leap?

This bridge then, must be what or who seeks the unity, oneness, togetherness, love between all humans. Brother knows it or him and so do I.

Muriel, Yes we need ladders. Some ladders are useful. Though not in every aspect of our lives. That is why we kick some, should we find we climbed them, and use others to descend.

Danas10,

Now you see? How can you say 'some' are useful then add, 'not in every aspect'. The 'non-usefulness' in the secondary aspects surely cancels out the some 'usefulness' in initial aspects. I urge you to reconsider and kick them all as you come across them, not just some.

Brother, are you saying that the ladder is character? Is it thought and deed? If it is, then we have gone off in a tangent.

Muriel,
I think of it this way, Jesus is the "way" (biblically and taking ladders as tycho puts it). I am persuaded by his teachings. But, the fact that he changed water into wine does not mean that I should like/take wine in the same way that I like/take water. I may dislike wine.Think

Brother says the ladder is the sublime, the way, who you are, what you say and do. You say its Jesus. I say that what you (Danas10) have said is the exoteric.

Well, the exoteric can also be a ladder, not so? If I understood correctly, you say it is "elaborated" in who you are, say and do. To the extent that I choose to define elaborate as "produce from", then who I am, say and do could be coming from somewhere and it is seen in I (elaborated in). Hence my example of Jesus above. My thoughts...

Why are you convinced we do not need ladders?

Yes. In my understanding, who you are, say and do is seen through you. 'Jesus' is the exoteric definition of 'ladder' in this our case.

You (and I) dont need a 'ladder' because the 'ladders' or the 'rungs' or 'walls', as Wakanyungi describes, are an illusion.

I guess this has been overtaken so no need for a response. smile

Perhaps, but you can still go with the flow.

The linkage within a body, and the linkage across bodies is the same. One link is electromagnetism.
