I hope the "preachers" from Masjid Musa, so called Shuhdaa or whatever, were also invited and in attendance so that next Fri they won't be telling the young boys to go slaughter the "kafiris" and chase away "compromised" Sheikhs.

This is good stuff.

I hope they identify and remove the bogus Imams who are bent on creating problems.

We need more of these international Imams of high standing to pass on the true values of Islam.

used to watch ukumbi wa kiisilamu - loved it when they spoke. they spoke in arabic then said it in swahili. I kinda got those ones from there! I have also been immersed in the islamic culture for a number of months and I can confirm this - this 9/11 thing pushed the world to where it is now. Muslims in an all muslim (or overwhelming majority country) are fine... that is all they know and they execute it to the best of their ability. the laws maybe tough but it keeps everyone in line. I just loved the way men would spend time with their families on odd tuesday or wednesday night out in restaurants - it touched my heart! hakuna pombe ya kufanya wanaume wakuwe bure. I loved that! I saw the power of organised religion in making lives better! I respect true muslims but there are bad elements that create us-vs-them dynamics that force akina @Alpha to take sides - which is not fair!

Muslims commitment to prayer is to say the least humbling. Its one displine of life I admire in them. Most of us Christians take prayer life so much for granted, yet its the most solemn moment when you talk to your God.

all things considered - i kinda like the structure in their lives (I wouldn't be a muslim) but having a society organised the way they have organised theirs is quite a feat! not sure how that structure will stand in the face of the onslaught of freedoms and information but let's see. What I have never really liked is their strict adherence to aspects of arabic culture as opposed to the idea of islam in toto. the clothing is uniform and of arabic descent - perhaps it's in the hadiths somewhere!

i hope Alphdoti you are reading the comments here. Do not underestimate the power of honesty and peace.

No one hates Islam as the radicals like pretending. We just hate the messages of hate which the Prophet did not preach.

Good stuff.

@Alphodoti, what do you say about this cleric who's deep in Somalia and fighting Al-Shabab when a lunatic like Makaburi talks about liberating the muslims in Somalia.

Quote:
Unlike what Al-Shabaab teaches, the 50-year-old Chief Kadhi is adamant that no religion allows the killing of innocent people. He is also cognisant of the fact that what affects Somalia also affects the region and that “if I had been in Kenya, I would still have armed myself and fought Al-Shabaab”.

The cleric says that if he had been in Nairobi when terrorists attacked the Westgate shopping mall last September, he would have removed his religious clothes and stormed the mall.

@Alph, I'm happy for you and your people. The day we realize that the God we serve is One, will be a great day. That being in this religion, and not that... is neither here nor there, as long as we Praise and Worship God; there being more Christians than Muslims or more Muslims than Christians is an exercise in futility. Flawed competition.

What is most important is to take care of what God has given us. Human life.
