Can our congested streets support this kind of patrol?

The unit will complement a new security programme Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero will implement in the next one year.
smh what is this DN?

The Nairobi City Inspectorate is setting up a dog unit to patrol bus stops. Already 20 dogs have been bought locally and from South Africa at a cost of Sh100,000 each, according to county transport executive Evans Ondieki.
I can only hope that we sourced for a good breed and not second hand toothless dogs nearing retirement.

Dr Kideroโ€™s security plan also includes the installation of surveillance cameras in the city capable of capturing clear images of vehicles breaking traffic laws.
Is this still a plan? A plan should have a time period after which it's archived and labelled as a non-starter.

The plan also envisages working with the national government to turn the City Inspectorate into a metropolitan police unit.[/img]

Pray does this mean converting the ruthless kanjo officers into cops.We are finished!

chida tupu

Kenya being Kenya, it might make it easier for able cops to collect more bribes especially the matatu ones....the way i've seen cops running after mats in town, they will skate faster to collect

Don't be a pessimist. Anything and I mean anything is possible in Kenya.smile

I support anything that works towards reducing crime even if it means flying on brooms.

Kenyan cops will have to skate with both their legs and hands to ensure center of gravity. Otherwise they will all end in Kanju ditches.

This can work in leafy suburbs of Karen, Westlands, Runda, Spring valley. Downtown Nairobi where most of the petty crimes happen with human&vehicle congestion, ditches, non-existent pavements, impassable alleys will be a challenge. For such arrears the temporary police booths/"kioks" were a good idea.
Life is short. Live passionately.

Need for speed and fitness must have been a key consideration. Others can only skate on their butts
