This works but it's gross abuse of privacy rights by GOK!! It's time we got a Data Protection law for the protection of personal data collected by banks, supermarkets, GoK, credit reference bureaus and anyone else who asks you for personal data on application forms, purchase documents et al

@Mpenzi; I think you are being overly paranoid. The system only gives name and registration centre. Nothing else. What do you say about the telephone directory that gives peoples names, tel numbers and postal addresses? Are they also abusing privacy?
Nothing is real unless it can be named; nothing has value unless it can be sold; money is worthless unless you spend it.

NAIROBI, Kenya, Apr 14 – The government has announced plans to register all Kenyans afresh in a new national digital database.

Deputy President William Ruto says the new measures are aimed at enhancing security and for purposes of planning.

“In order to address the prevailing security challenges, we intend to consolidate all current registers of persons into a single national register with accurate and relevant information,” said Ruto.

The database will contain biometric details of all persons, land, establishments and assets.

OK.

Given a timeline of 6 months and previous experience with the BvR kits by IEBC staff, I have faith in Isaak Hassan and his team.

The IEBC is the only institution we can rely on to independently ensure the sanctity of the data collected in the first instance not corrupt Immigration or Birth/Death registration officers who are largely responsible for the mess in the first place.

This is a system requiring 24/7 availability. With the kind of Executive goodwill this project carries from the onset, I think the GoK will experience challenges but will eventually succeed in getting it running.

This Will be very interesting but I wish it would have been more of something similar to the social number in the US. It would have really helped especially in the health sector.
