Some arguments by those who deify mohammed are funny Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

What was the sign of Jonah?

The scripture:
An evil and adulterous generation seeks for a sign, but no sign shall be given to it except the sign of the prophet Jonah. For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the whale, so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth

Jesus had been among the people for long. He had done many miracles but many still doubted him. He had even raised 4 day dead Lazarus from the dead!

But prophets like Elisha had also raised people from the dead. So this did not set Jesus apart from the prophets.

Jesus did a much greater miracle. He raised himself from the dead. He, like Jonah, was away from humanity for 3 days. And the miracle of his resurrection is what draws men to him like Jonah's miraculous survival in the belly of the big fish!

Why the sign of Jonah? Because the repentance of Nineveh came from the acknowledgement that Jonah's 3 day survival in the fish must have been miraculous! It must've been a divine act.
Luke 11:30 wrote:
For as Jonah was a sign to the Ninevites, so also will the Son of Man be to this generation.

Hence those that saw, believed and made others believe. Similarly, Jesus' death and resurrection made many believe. Even the most doubtful became ready to die for him!

The Ninevites, hard headed and brutal people in the then prosperous Assyrian kingdom, saw the miracle and believed. They repented and fasted. The Lord saw their repentance and turned away from his wrath.

Will you believe?
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.

and he compared himself with Moses' bronze snake
Quote:
Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness, so the Son of Man must be lifted up,[f] 15 that everyone who believes may have eternal life in him.

the bottom line is that we must believe in him.
Laughing out loudly smile Applause d'oh! Sad Drool Liar Shame on you Pray

Just to be in the same page with @muriel and others, let me review the statement.

Jesus (peace be upon him) said "...As Jonah was, so shall the son of man be"

Jonah was how? How was Jonah in the whole episode?

1. When he was thrown overboard, how was he? The answer is Alive!

2. In the belly of the whale as it goes around the ocean how was Jonah, dead or alive? The answer is Alive! How do we know? Because he prayed to almighty God!

3. He was vomited out on the sea shore, dead or alive? The answer is Alive!

We see: Alive! Alive! Alive!

Alright!! I am back!

Yes Alphdoti, Jonah was alive. Alive. Alive ,,,,,,,,,,,

Alive.

Jonah was alive.

(This is where you are supposed to have your ah ha! moment ,,,,,,,,,,,,,)

Maybe I expect too much from you, and you wont have it anyway. In that case, it is this way:

That is the 'sign'. Alive. Jonah went down, alive, and came out alive. Jesus went down, though dead, but came out alive. Alive. Alive. Miracle. Both came out alive. Alive. Jesus is alive. A-L-I-V-E. Sign. Miracle.

Sign = alive = resurrection.

I see my big brother has also contributed, you can comprehend what he has said there, right? Hata Lolest ametokelezea na mchango. Remember Ja-Kom's typology. Kila mtu amechangia na bado hupati!

It is so simple, so easy that anyone who does not 'get it' is not taken seriously, a situation that you interpret as 'no Christian can tell you what was that sign'. You have been told this over and over again in this thread in many, different words.

Yet you still insist 'no Christian can tell you what was that sign.'

Whatever it is you are looking for, I hope you find it.

This then, must be the part where you go

I am sure you went to high school when they were still high schools there and they were high school, not madrassa or, you know, something else. I am not sure they exist there, across the border, any more. Lucky you.

ALIVE!

Thank you. Now, you're the first Christian to tell me that this is the miracle!

ALIVE => MIRACLE = THE SIGN

Look Jonah (a.s) volunteered he says throw me.
And a man who volunteers you don't have to strangle him before throwing. You don't have to break his arms before throwing. No, the man volunteers, he says throw me. Why would you want to kill him! Nothing.

So when I ask you was he dead or alive, and you say "ALIVE", I assume the rest of the Christian folk agree to this unanimously.

Right answer. Any child would have answered that Applause Applause

The answer is Yes and No.....

@Ja-Kom, do dead people pray? Do dead people plead with God?

See the steps. The fish comes and gulped him down. Was he dead or alive? ALIVE!

From the fish's belly he prays to God for help. Do dead people pray? Do dead people plead with God? No. So what was he, dead or alive? ALIVE!

On the third day the fish vomits him on the sea shore. Dead or alive? ALIVE!

"And the Lord spoke to the fish, and it vomited Jonah out upon the dry land." book of Jonah chapter 2:10

Jonah (a.s) preaches to the people of Ninevah, they repent.

Your argument is true only in as much as a dead man can't say a prayer. But can you say that assertion is true, in ALL cases? That is, a man who's never been dead can tell of the world of the dead?

If you go to the ocean for a swim, and your friend is swallowed by a big fish, do you issue a worldwide alert for a man who is going to be spat?
