Swenani wrote:MADE wrote:Siringi wrote:Did I hear correctly? The Queues for operations some guys waiting for siyui 6months ? Please chunga vichwa if you must hit a fella gonga parts that can be amputated without the need for a neurosurgeon Kwani what kind of medicine is taught at UoN medical School it takes a longer period to train this cadre of doctors. it is also only for those ready to train to the end with tough exams. Most students give up along the way. The operations they perform end up having a mental effect on them in the long run. A tough course indeed Can you back up on your allegations? I worked at Aga Khan for 5years and know some of these consultants. One Prof. Sande's hair was always unkempt(kama ile ya lawyer khaminwa)...spoke to himself as he walked...could come driving in the morning, parks but forgets all that and calls his family for a car moments later. To ease pressure on their minds, some of them are consumers of some stuff before and/or after an operation, which they nevertheless perform quite well. Age is transforming me into an Elder;becoz Admin hasn't made me one.

Neurosurgery is quite interesting, but can be very sad given that most of your patients have high mortality or poor quality of life Peace in our Homeland.

Have heard that story too. Legend has it that it was actually Prof. Joseph Mungai. Only he could have done something like that.

Kusadikika wrote:I disagree. There are more neurosurgeons than that, they forgot to count the Kisii Traditional Neurosurgeons. These ones have been operating even before there were medical schools and they do not need theatres. It's good that you've mentioned them. They were also in 'my mind'. I take it as a sign of 'slavery' that our bodies can become such a deep mystery, even despite humans being on earth across millennia.

Interesting read on how he brought 10 cadavers from Makerere to set up the School of Medicine at THE. http://www.nation.co.ke/...8/-/nh9l7h/-/index.html

How does one operate on a patient like this? Those bodies at chiromo.....after how many practicals are they rendered useless and disposed off. Has there ever been a shortage of 'practical materials?' Oh good I feel sick asking this, but do tell. If only they could use dummies.

Prof Kioy and Dr Hooker are neurologists. They do not operate. Add Prof Nimrod Mwang'ombe and Dr Julius Kiboi. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

Unkempt hair, etc. @kysse, the bodies start off whole and end up as skeletons. I think I had a skull, a pelvis and some metatarsals somewhere in my room... There's an endless supply of "bodies donated to science". At Chiromo, they are stacked one on top of the other for the freshers to slice and dice. Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.
