Fair results I'd say considering:

Profit before tax up 17%
Gross premium up 16%
Total income up 26%

Short term business +12%
Life business +24%
Medical business + 25%

The culprit in my mind was an adverse -19% in share of profits from associates, and higher effective tax rate compared to last yr.

Don't know which associate company is culpable. Unless they decided to dispose off an associate co hence re-classifying it as available-for-sale in comprehensive income statement.

Which would explain why comprehensive income is up a whopping 45%!

With an EPS of 38 and with a P/E of 12 price should be 456!

With the planned buyouts and the impact on earnings and a rights issue which will probably be priced below 300 who knows where it will stop!

Lets talk in 10 years..

Unless Equity will be making 100 Billion net profits it will have nothing on Jubilee!

Large caps like Equity can only get you so far!

Its easier for JUB to make 10 Billion profit in 10 years to come than Equity to make 100 Billion in the same period!

Am in both big time.

I like the vision and solid management by both.

Other insurance companies are venturing into real estate. Jubilee went to energy generation, now running 250 megawatts hydro bujagali in Jija and Kipevu in mombasa. rumour has they
have interest in KenGen stake or joint venture.

Aquisition spices the whole thing.
