The below par in financial performance was due to the newly medical insurance business which they have given steps on how they plan to improve on it

Good stock for 2 to 3 years to come.

@Ericsson, that medical insurance aint a work in the park and will not be as easy as the abc steps they are putting. Look at the experienced Panafric, the saving grace is usually the investments in good years

Some two very pertinent questions....

Sunil Sanger @sang252
NSE20 Index up 20%, bond yields above 10%, how did @CICInsurancemanage 4% drop in Investment income in 2013? @SterlingNairobi @nderi_

Wonder why @CICInsurance trades at higher multiples than associate@Coopbankenya, which should report growth in PAT of 15%+

Single digit PAT growth was expected from the poor single digit H1 %PAT results.

FY Profit before Tax 1.6b versus 1.6b
FY Profit after Tax 1.4b versus 1.3b +1.4%
FY EPS 0.67 versus 0.64 +4.6%
Final Dividend 10 cents a share.

i expect better results from sameer africa which are currently trading at similar prices

Its at its peak now the only way is down in the short to medium term. I dare predict. Worth a look at 4.00

I was there at the briefing. The management was massively optimistic and he has reasons to be. Premiums are growing in the low double digits, but they have an impressive CAGR.

The bottom line is what bothers me. If you look at the returns posted by PAFR and BRIT you realise CIC is too far behind. Granted that their business models are vastly different, still, investors might move away if profit margins don't improve.

Also, books close is all the way in June, that's too far off and I only hope we get a decent interim this year otherwise this stock is going to go back to the KES 5 levels.

When the bonus is factored the lowest I expect the counter to go is ksh.6.
The bonus is a 1:5 which means they are increasing the issued shares by 20%

True, your numbers are very correct but after the bonus is factored in we'll definitely experience some price correction, that's when a 5 or worst case a 4 might come into play briefly..

Unless we have a financial crisis CIC at 5 or 4 is a mirage

That upside is not what i'd call BUY. Thats what a risk free investment should give.
