The KCSE thread reminds me of this onesmile smile smile
Why were some people catching feelings

I know of parents who cannot stomach their kids going to Public Unis so they opt to take them to Catholic, Strath, USIU, Daystar hata kama they scored A ... You notice i left out some colleges intentionally *kahelmet pap*

Anyway let us put the issue in perspective

First things first What is the purpose of a University Education? What kind of attitude and aptitude should a University graduate have?

What happens majuu?

Does KCSE measure , aptitude, attitude, ability and what is its purpose and by extension the purpose of such other Exams as IGCSE and are their grading systems any different from 'ours'

Why are people critising KCSE yet hata hizo za majuu
A is and A and D is a D?

A (80% and above) A- (79- 75)
B+ (70-74) B (65-69) B- (60-65)
C+ (55-59) C (50-54) C- (45-49)
D+ (40-44) D (35-39) D- (30-34)
E (0-29)

Are you sure? So your kid scores an A and is admitted for a top course at UoN, but you move him/her to Daystar?

Yes this happens alot. Some parents are allergic to anything public.

ION I have heard of a girl who did the British system exams and did not do all the subjects as she had been suspended from school.Exams are out and ofcourse the missed units are missing.......but surprise surprise she has been admitted to Daystar University for a degree in Communication.

Kwani what is the admission criteria at Daystar?

Yes. Very common. Admitted for Engineering at UoN, but opts for BCom at Strath.

Set out to correct the world's wrongs and you will most certainly wind up adding to them.

Reminds me of a friend of mine whose parents wanted him to go and study in the UK during them days...Alikataa kata kata....and said he was going to Nairobi University...(The place to be by the time) and maybe for Masters he could consider their offer...And he did exactly that!

Now you can see why Kenya will never industrialize if the top engineering brains are opting for careers in balancing books. Sad!

What is the reasoning behind this? How is Strath superior to UoN?

@Jaggernaut 100% sure ...its a pity though

However my clan would have to go to The ... so that they learn how to hassle and toughen like mesmile smile smile

On a positive note the private unis and parallel programmes have helped retain forex drain that would otherwise have been wasted if the kids flew to majuu after KCSE...

Our worry should be the quality of teaching, publications, research and instruction etc going on in the ivory towers ...Sad Sad
