The last days is when you die, thats what should worry you, don't worry about the rest of the world, they will continue with their business as they are now

Don't too quick to conclude that Shame on you
Even the scientist of today can tell you contrary to what you're saying, they say world will come to an end someday. They say maybe self destruct, maybe retraction-after the current expansion... they have all manner of hypothesis

Ok, even if the world were to somehow end, it wouldn't be because of nakedness on billboards, clubbing or alcohol ads. Lol. Dude, you are unbelievable.

@ham, there is a saying that goes "Do not praise yourself before you are praised by the community." It is a warning against arrogance and self-correctness. Even if you are intelligent, you do not need to call others unbelievable; others can see and appreciate your reasoning without your having to boast about it.

Now, if you read the list of hypothesis scientists put across, you'd have noticed one I called "self-destruction". Please explain that, if it does not mean man somehow doing things that turn out to be harmful to its survival. And when we say "world", it may not necessarily mean the earth, but the "people" or inhabitants.

I leave you with another saying: "Pride comes before a fall." This is a warning, for example, to very smart people who are so intoxicated with their intelligence that they disregard other intelligent being, which "signs" can be seen to exist.

Dude, that's where you are wrong. I am not worried about when i die, we will all die. Contrary to what you are saying, i worry about the state of affairs in this world. How we can have kids starve to death everyday, how can we just sit and watch as our fellow human beings are homeless, how can we persecute and discriminate against our fellow humans for beings for being different be it by color, creed, origin or sexual orientation, So, when you tell me not to worry about the rest of the world, it underlines the difference between you and as far as humanity is concerned. We have to be our brother's keeper. That's the only way we can really have a progressive society.

About pride coming before a fall, i beg to differ. You are confusing my confidence with pride. I am a confident human being and i say it like it is...... that does not constitute pride. Those two are mutually exclusive concepts. I just keep it real, sorry you are confusing that with pride.

1. So the world has always embraced homosexuality?

2. So the world's children have always been insolent to their parents?

3. So Syria has always been in ruins??

4. So Haiti, Pakistan, Indonesia Japan, China, Chile style earthquakes/tsunamis happen every decade?

5. So Jerusalem has always been split into two?

etc? etc?

Its all about what you believe!

Secularism preaches love for life on earth as the main purpose while religion preaches love for life after death as the main purpose.

I can see this thread has attracted evangelist @hamburglar the atheist fundamentalist.

Putting evangelist and atheist in the same sentence is an oxymoron. There is nothing fundamentalist about using common sense.

not really: its because you thing evangelist has one meaning! an evangelist is also someone who talks about something with great enthusiasm (it was a subtle pun)! you can be an atheistic evangelist just like Richard Dawkins is. being a fundamentalist is being intolerant to other belief systems (or lack of belief systems). Insulting religions and religious people. calling them stupid! think about it - if you were the mum to this child,

what kind of hope would you like to be given? that the child is in a better place and that you will meet them some day? or that like a dog they are dead... gone... eaten up by the vulture!

I am not intolerant to other people's beliefs, i just think that religion is detrimental to humanity.....and yes, it's stupid to me that someone would actually believe in talking snakes and people turning water into wine. I have no apologies for thinking that things like that are stupid.

False hope is the worst thing that you can offer. I am a realist. Society failed that child but by telling the mum that they will meet some day is disingenuous. You would rather nor say anything than offer false hope. It might sound a little harsh but the truth is that the child was most probably eaten by a vulture. I obviously wouldn't tell his mother that because that would be painfully cruel and very insensitive but fact is that that is probably what happened. We can't hide reality. It just is what it is. Do i feel sorry and heartbroken for the child and his mum? If you have been following my posts about kids you will know that i have a soft spot in my heart for disadvantaged kids, so yes, i feel bad, but life is not fair, life can be cruel, we need to accept that and seek ways to make it more fair so that we never have to see a picture like that ever again. Religion, prayers and gods are not the answers, protecting, feeding and loving kids like that is the answer.

Laughing out loudly Am glad somebody actually has the common sense to figure out this ridiculous non existent gods, last days and other religious nonsense. Last days? Lol. Wow. Religious people are painfully gullible.......Maybe even stupid.

Wisdom is achieved when one unchains themselves from the shackles of religion and make believe gods. Again, i am proud to be an Atheist.

I am glad to be that fool that says there is no god. Very very glad. I can't wait for your sadistic god to send me to hell to burn in eternal fire.

It's both interesting and 'sad' that both theists and atheists are bent on doing away not just which other, but with secularism.

In the first place @AlphDoti is saying that he's against secularism because girls are walking naked and doing other immoral things, and that governments should now intervene in such matters, and do away with democracy and pluralism. It smells of al Shabaab or Taliban agenda, but now we are past such solutions, and in fact, that such calls are being made implies failed religions. Why? What hope is there in the world religions for Man? I see none whatsoever, even the Buddhist is burning himself in protest.

As for the atheists who believe there's something distinctive in taking care of children, I can only say that one doesn't have to be an atheist to take care of your children. You only need to be a donkey, a dog, or some other animal. But being human means something more. What is this thing? It's seed is not just in diversity, but communication in love. Communal reasoning, mutual relationships, and infinite power and wisdom.

Neither of these things have always been there.

If one is keen enough, then he can see 'the world' being created, and the world ending.
