The CUSTOMER is always RIGHT. Ignore the customer's feedback at your own peril.

Many have risen from monumental failures. Others take a bow and quit. The choice is Wanjiku's.

That's what they say, but they are wrong.

There exists a bunch of useless customers. A business would do itself a huge favor if they ignored them.

I'm in business, i've seen and heard a lot over the years.

just watched her show on youtube and my conclusion is as follows;

1. Her target audience doesn't consist of old folks because her jokes do not appeal to them at all.I can understand why many of us are criticizing her.

2. Wanjiku is a darling to many school kids through her school tours.

3. NBO is not Kenya. I believe that most homes in upcountry areas tune in to her show for entertainment.
I would do the same.

4.She was riding on a strong brand 'churchill' which has a national outlook. Her success will now be determined by how diverse she can be so as to reach a wider target.

What do our comedians do with their lives when they are not doing comedy?

If things hit rock bottom what will she fall back to?.

I see eric's brother trying to make a comeback but the 'spark' is just not there, yet he used to be my fav.

My teenagers switched channels after 10 minutes and they were really looking forward to the programme.

Those are chanukad teens with a taste for classy comedy because of exposure to variety and quality.

I discovered that the local programmes we nbians shun are a fav.in mashambani and mombasa.smile The actors are 'celebs'.

Most TV shows have a target audience. If a show doesn't amuse you, it means you are not a target audience.

the problem with comedy is that it can get pretty predictable!! tungoje! what we are saying here is not shooting the dear lady for nothing - I personally want her to succeed! however, ask those who have trodden the path before what it takes for you to be 'ever green'. you may be hot today and dead tomorrow! she needs to innovate!

Yes @ McReggae!! We should...How else are we going to nurture our own entertainers if we do not give them support!

You see @McR I knew the original Nyengese way back in 1980 when he used to perform at Machakos Country bus station all alone. At the time, he was going by the name Helen in his performances and until he talked, you could hardly tell whether he was a man (completely disguised through his female performance attire).

Two years later he recruited some two comedians whom he personally trained. They parted ways almost an year and a half later...one of the guys went to perform at the former Jack & Jill super market location and the other went to outside odeon cinema. Months later the J & J fellow disappeared, and the Odeon guy akakula weed sana and could not pull a crowed enough to sustain his solo shows. A couple of years later he disappeared too, leaving nyengese still performing.

Up and until mid 90s Nyengese had made a very big difference in his performances in terms of real entertainment. The substance of his theatrics may have been rather shallow, but he made use of his mouth very well and that is when the Nairobi community started recognising and appreciating his "outstanding talent" and all of a sudden, the musicians wanted him. It was also during this period that other talented fellows started to come out and rise to the comedian occasion.

To cut a long story short, Nyengese inspired many people and most of todays comedians owe their motivation to him (ask akina ojwang and mama Kayai of vitimbi and the original vioja mahakamani characters). It took Nyengese close to 20 years for his work to be recognised. The Nyengese comedians that you hear of nowadays are the former students of the original Nyengese (Helen). Nyengese himself died around 2010 along Thika road near Utalii in a road accident (may God rest his soul in eternal peace).

So, let us give our talented comedians moral and material support because if we don't who else will...There is still a very big room for improvement and I believe the lady comedian will rectify the defects in her comedy shows albeit slowly...she cannot do it all at once..!!!!

@McReggae, Mr Rowan Atkinson, the Mr Bean, is a rich british comedian who used his comedian talents very well. 90% of his comedy shows were full of mediocrity (you can confirm this)... the english community did not shut him off or up but rather encouraged him.

@Kaigangio you are missing the point. We are not saying it was wrong for her to try. We are only providing feedback. Personally, I would want to see her succeed. But how shall she succeed if we dont tell her the truth? How shall she be able to compete with other established comedians if we dont tell her when her show is below par? She can only grow if we tell her the truth. Applauding mediocrity is not one of them. Suppose one of your friends was producing a product that you really want him to succeed in. And you are one of his customer. Then he delivers a pathetic product. Would you applaud him coz he tried or would you tell him he should up his game to compete in the market? Truth is the way to go, not to papasa papasa failure points.
