Would it make sense there really? Not unless you have specific requirements to meet as requested by your clients. A warehouse is best suited on major highways with promixity to Airports/Sea Ports/Industrial Factories/Container Terminals/Security zone/Town. etc. There are also other factors to consider like the nature of goods that you intend to store,your clientele,their distribution channels and markets etc. Whatever you can do to reduce costs,improve logistics co-ordination and enhance security will work to your advantage.

I have carried my small research online. For container weighing 29.6 kg the trucker should have provided; A Vehicle & semi trailer with 4 axles to carry btwn gw 34,000kg and 36,000 kgor Vehicle with 4 axles with max gw of 30,000kg.BUT he decides to bring; A Vehicle and semi-trailer with total of 3 axles with max gw of 28,000kg.Which makes him get nubbed and fined. Quest: Isn't the fine the truck owner's cost? It's not my duty as a customer to know the axle no or the truck model required. My duty is to disclose the weight and you bring the correct truck. Do you agree with me? Can you post an image of a Vehicle and semi-trailer with total of 3 axles with max gw of 28,000kg. and a Vehicle with 4 axles with max gw of 30,000kg? I want to see the physical diff.if there is any. Also,please confirm this; Kenya allows a maximum of 48 tonnes for vehicles, Rwanda and Burundi 53 tonnes while Tanzania and Uganda allow 56 tonnes, Thank you.

Semitrailers in Kenya are only permitted to have a maximum of 3 axles. You will not see any semi-trailer vehicle with 4 axles, hence this option is not feasible. As for the Prime mover, a vehicle with double diff allows you to carry 2t extra than the normal ones (with leading axle), which can only carry maximum of 28t. Pictures:Vehicle and semi-trailer with total of 3 axles with max gw of 28,000kg.Your normal trailer..  Vehicle with 4 axles with max gw of 30,000kg?- Used for tippers, cement mixers, specialized applications e.g. borehole digging trucks, you will not get such being used to carry a 40ft container.

@ mkimwa ,thank you so much.Your reply has helped me a lot,like you have no idea. I spoke to KNHA,who cofirmed that a Double Diff with a leading axle is permitted to carry 1x40'up to 36 mtons gw on kenyan roads. You See a 'smart' transporter carried above 28mtons on a normal 3 axle truck.Got him!  Ili iwe funzo kwa madereva greedy kama hao...

@mkimwa, you are a guru in this business. I operate one which has been okay. Been lucky to get consistent jobs mainly 40ft containers from MSA to nrb where I get paid directly.
My biggest challenge is the crew. Apart from tracking technology, how else do you manage these guys?

How much do they cost for a Mistubishi FH? Inspection is necessary, you take the vehicle to the inspection center, if they give your vehicle a clean bill of health, you are good to go for the next 1 year. The speed governor is also a must. The new requirements for the speed governors also apply to trucks and other commercial vehicles. I dont know anyone who has fitted the new governors as yet. Of course you need third party insurance, and yellow card if you are going outside Kenya. Also you may need a transit licence, if you are carrying transit goods.
