Price controls in KE, Ethiopia,TZ & RW. Only in KE & RW is KK a major player. In TZ, it's 6% and UG is a tough market because of smuggled [non-taxed] fuel imports.

No idea about Zambia but KK is a small player while Puma [yes, that Puma] is strong.

KK owns significant assets in all the countries but will it sell them? In KE, there are attempts to sell off non-core or non-performing assets including some stations where land prices have jumped. Along Muranga Road [in Pangani] is a closed station [after the expanded road took away the 'entrance'] which is probably worth more in terms of land than the 'profit' it used to generate.

What will happen if they liquidate the non-core assets? Will they venture in other avenues since opening up more stations is not an option.. Or they just want to set-off loans and add cashflow?
You said it. Pay down debts. Lower interest payments. Increase trading activities.

KK remains a Takeover Play. It's a question of price.

More important is to clean up their books. Get all the hedges off so there are no more hits. And then sell off excess properties that a Buyer does not want. The results will show up after the clean-up and cash inflows.

Are these stations new establishments or existing ones changing hands?

These could be Company-run stations being offered to Dealers. Or change in dealership.

- A dealer may have grown his other businesses & ignores [or doesn't pay the same attention] to the Fuel Station
- Retirement. Even a good dealer grows old.
- Company Run. Cheaper for KK to lease it out since the payroll & losses are shouldered by KK.
- A dealer who is not up to the task needs to be replaced
- Some dealers are short of cash [working capital] so they have stock-outs when they run out of fuel
- Mismanagement

I am worried. I don't know if the current management esp CEO is doing what he should do. Have you been to the stations?

I have been to two and they seemed ok to me, what have you observed?
About the Ceo, i think he doesn't like too much hype/limelight,unlike Segman who would be issuing press releases & announcements every now and then.

Dirty. K-Card problems. Compare to Total stations.

This will be the surprise stock. When that time comes those holding baby may laugh with 22 shillings in their banks per share.
