Mavuninites are actually Baptists.

@ Mali

why did you delete the original post that started all this.... I wonder.................. did you know you would get such variable views. This is very interesting.....

Rather than spending all your time reading about the future and trying to figure the nuances of what is it might hold, may be you should spend at least as much time getting to know Him better (David Jeremiah)

A recent survey showed that most Americans no longer think Jesus is essential for one to get to heaven: http://www.nytimes.com/2...pinion/27blow.html?_r=1

They have a point. Those of us who have had the good luck to live in multicultural societies and interact with people 'different' from us know that the belief that only Christians are destined to heaven is a load of exclusionary crap. By such logic,as I have heard it from some preachers,Hitler would have gone to heaven and Gadhi to hell because one was Christian and the other was Hindu. And you wonder why the Church is rapidly sliding into irrelevance.

We need more Mavuno.

Let me dare say that you are very wrong. Your post seems to suggest that Mavuno supports your views and that is incorrect. mavuno is about one God who sent His son Jesus who died for us that we may have Life.

John 3:16-18 (the message)

' This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son,his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life. God didn't go to all the trouble of sending his Son merely to point an accusing finger, telling the world how bad it was. He came to help,to put the world right again. Anyone who trusts in him is acquitted; anyone who refuses to trust him has long since been under the death sentence without knowing it. And why? Because of that person's failure to believe in the one-of-a-kind Son of God when introduced to him.'

I was in attendance yesterday.Well, didn't strike me as doctrinally variant. I think a lot of its criticisms stem from a lack of knowledge and understanding.....of its modus operandi. Lots of youth which I took to mean that their message resonates with the group(this is important to net the youth from societal ills) If they are providing a refuge for those who need it,who is to say that that is a bad thing...I'd say....not bad.

@Fundaah...from your posts, it seems that you're implying that whatever does not subscribe to what you believe in is a manifestation of false prophets!

I don't think I saw anyone inviting you to Mavuno, but at least try and make your comments form a basis of actual knowledge as opposed to making conclusions from the posts you're reading - if you can't go to see for yourself what the hype is (or not), why choose to comment?

Mr. Tea made his/ her comment after making a visit. I suggest you do the same (or not comment) because frankly it's a bit irritating seeing people commenting about things from a high seat (no offense). Maybe I sound passionate coz I know how Mavuno has made me start listening to God's word (after eons). I was baptised a catholic when I was in prima but hardly stpped in church during my seco, colle and campus days, even after I left school and started working.

I'm not young and neither am I old, so it's not a phase for me. I beleive some of the young guys go to Mavuno coz it's a fad for them but what if they start picking up lines that will help them change for better people and move closer to God? If there's anything wrong with that then I need to be explained for what Christianity and being saved is all about!

The Catholic church continues to argue about abortion in the Constituion debate and I think it's healthy coz that is a delicate topic that just can't be wished away. But in the same breath we read about how many priests are molesting boys (some even deaf) only to be transferred to another church! Should we demonize the entire Catholic church because of some bad apples?

Some people think others are fanatics yet they are the fanatics. I rest my case!

After what Jesus did to the traders in the temple I wonder what he would do to this "church"...

Why are we always trying to get God to conform to our ways instead of vice versa?? Sad

Anyone can give a sermon...

The question here is whether Jesus would sit in that sermon??

If the youth feel religion is meant to be some form of entertainment like everything else in this world they should let religion be, enjoy their lives and wait patiently for the Hellfire!

Read Matthew 7:15-20 so that every practicing Christian may be clear on Mavuno and other money laundering suspects smile

..it is not about enticing people to attend church, socialize and entertain, it is for faith, worship and repentance. Church is not a product, to be packaged and marketed for appeal to fickle youth and young adults.
Shades of Grey? Eish. I saw that and immediately the infamous smut novel 50 Shades of Grey sprung to mind..I have no doubt this is the association that was meant to create

I don't think that this poster warrants the negative reactions and condemnation given so far. If anything, I think it's an application of what advertisers are taught to use to get customers. For example, a similar poster could be used to 'lure' youngsters to cigarette smoking or some other lifestyle product like alcohol. So why shouldn't Mavuno compete with these 'well advertised' products?

Church is a product. We live in a world of products. We are always confronted with products @quicksand.

oi oi oi...didn't know the comments I saw on social media jana were about mavuno. I thought it was all about that Americann church. Whatever the content of the sermon, the pic is wrong! Are we later going to turn our churches to strip clubs to get attention from sinners? This has crossed the line!!
