Zain have had a similar offer for weeks now - Kshs 250 for unlimited access for a day...

@djinn - Using Zain is like riding a bicycle to get to Mombasa... Safaricom is much faster than Zain in Nairobi... at least where 3G is available...

The only problem is...safaricom speeds have dropped in the last 3 days. ..I think congestion due to the offer so be warned,unless you want to experience 3G at 3am in the morning only.

@djinn,I don't live in Kericho or Timboroa or Matuu,so I don't know (or care) if they have 3G there...

@kupu...my point was about pervasiveness - whats the use of claiming good speeds on a MOBILE network when you can only use it in NBI,MSA and one other place? If I was an agri extension worker,taking pics of pests in the field,sending orders for farm inputs to the HQ....I'd want the network to follow me (and not to wait until I am within a 10km radius of Nairobi). I know for a fact the after Kinoo you cannot get 3G - ditto in the other three directions. And you see below someone has talked abt congestions. With Zain you get 2.5G everywhere...and even my fictional agri-extension worker can still send images back to his head office and still do some facebook,googletalk,etc. This thing about broadband is over rated - its just SLIGHTLY better...as much as a queen cake at the Hilton is better than a queencake off the shelf in Uchumi - I hope you see my point. Lets not get drawn into this speed thing like its becoming fashionable to - I'm particularly rankled by people who want HIGH speed just to do yahoo email,facebook,etc - if you want to stream media,upload gigantic attachments,then be my guest...but when you get hooked to the high speeds,the moment you leave the 3G network,won't you be one miserable bugger...

You talk of zain being slow. if you've tried yu which goes for 3 bob/min,then you'd appreciate zain.

@jangwa is a poet now?

____*** Who said Zain has 2.5G... seems like 1G to me... I have used Zain & the choice to pay safcom 200 vs 250 for Zain... is a no-brainer... AT THE MOMENT... If Zain steps up their game after getting a 3G license...

Like i said,@djinn,i don't live in any of those areas and neither am i an agricultural extension officer. I only use internet in my office and at home. So really it doesn't matter to ME whether Timboroa has 3G or not...

Now safaricom is same price as Access but more convenient. KDN's butterfly is 2,300 lakini NO signal!

@ all

I wish this was an unlimited time offer and not just until 5th November. I guess all agree to this point?

@riddler - I think they are testing the market... I think an unlimited package (monthly) is on the way to compete with Zain's 3000 pm as well as AK & butterfly... I would pay 5k/month since the rest cost me that anyway (AK 4,500). Also the speeds beat Zain all the way!
